Awie fails in bid to get temporary child custody The Syariah High Court here yesterday denied a request by popular rock singer Awie to continue as temporary custodial parent to his two daughters.Awie had earlier filed an application for custodial rights over his daughters, Puteri Aleeya Antasha, 6, and Puteri Aleefa Antasha, 3.
Judge Datuk Abdul Rahman Yunus said the issue should not be raised as the court had never awarded that right to Awie.”The decision involving temporary custody was a personal one between you (Awie) and your wife (Arni Nazira Anuar) and was not mediated by the court,” he said in rejecting the oral application by Awie through his counsel Mohd Sazali Abdul Aziz.
The couple tied the knot in 1998. But their marriage failed when Awie married Rozana Misbun, a 27-year-old model and younger sister of actress, Haliza Misbun.
Rahman later set hearing of custodial rights for Jan 26.
