Jessie Chung is no ordinary Malaysian. A self-declared transsexual, Jessie attracted the regional media and the subsequent media circus when she announced her wedding plans a year ago.

She married Joshua Beh, an accountant, and received much slander. criticisms and also much admiration for her remarkable courage for standing up and being unafraid to be noticed.

What was most significant was she managed to change the tide of opinion against her to a reluctant respect. Many thought few would attend her wedding celebrations but she proved her critics wrong. Whether the country’s laws will recognize her union with Joshua is not important…..what is important is that she is now blissfully married and an achiever in her own right

Chung released her first album as a female recording artiste recently. The album entitled Loving You is Chung’s first album as a female singer, and her third so far. Her previous two albums A Heart Filled With Love and There Is Decision were recorded six to eight years ago when she was still physically a man. Chung, who has sung for charities, had reportedly raised some RM500,000 from her previous albums for orphanages, single mothers’ associations and other organisations.

Chung, whose original name was Jeffrey, underwent three operations to become a woman three years ago. Next on her plate is a book titled Jessie’s Diary to be released next year.
