Joyous occasion for the nation
Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin ibni Almarhum Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah of Terengganu took the oath of office as the 13th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, coincidentally on Dec 13.
Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah of Kedah also took the oath of office as the Deputy Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
They will reign for five years starting from Dec 13.
Constitutionally, the King’s position is rotated every five years among the traditional Malay rulers of nine states.
The royal couple have four children, comprising the Regent of Terengganu, Tengku Muhammad Ismail, 8, Tengku Nadhirah Zahrah, 10, Tengku Muhammad Mua’az, 6, and Tengku Fatimatuz Zahra’, 4.
