Another blow for former boxing champion Mike Tyson

Enter any supermarket and out of every ten persons male or female at least five would have heard of former boxing champion, Mike Tyson. In contrast many would not have heard of billionaire Bill Gates.
Mike Tyson became the youngest champion in heavyweight history when he took the title aged 20 in 1986. He is the most famous boxing celebrity other than Mohammad Ali.
Mohammad Ali @ Cassius Clay had a song named after him. That was good publicity. Mohammad Ali did a lot of community work and his daughter did a lot of promotional stuff. When Mohammad Ali came out and disclosed that he was sick, the world was sympathetic and rooted for him : he was after all a true success story…. an inspiration to those who thought themselves socially disadvantaged when it came to success.
However Mike Tyson has generated bad press which has damaged his career. He seems like a torpedo destined to sink to the bottom in spite of his talents. With all his earnings and excellent celebrity status, he could be riding out on his fame till he reaches retirement age, giving talks, motivational seminars etc but he has squandered all his opportunities and lost accumulated good public relations with the press and the public.
In 1992, he was convicted of rape, eventually serving half of a six-year jail term. He tried to rebuild his career after that but with only limited success. He even bit the ear of a boxing opponent. Such is the aggression that is within this man
Now Mike Tyson faces another blow. He has been arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs and possession of cocaine, US police say. The 40-year-old former heavyweight boxer was arrested in Scottsdale, 10 miles (16km) east of Phoenix, Arizona, at around 0145 local time (0845GMT). Apparently he was stopped after he almost hit a police car while under the influence of drugs. Cocaine was found on him and in his car.
Mike Tyson did not deny the charges and admitted to having a drug problem. We wish Mike Tyson all the best. He has few friends by his side now.
