Gardening is now one of my neglected hobbies
I got this idea for today’s post from Bernard and Wuching
I do not have expensive beautiful orchids and flowers. Also since I started blogging, I have totally neglected my garden. Upon checking today, I found mangoes and oranges among the TALL grass because I neglected to harvest them. Also the banana trees are an eyesore, the bintang orange tree lacking fertilizer and not bearing fruit and all the star-fruits have been stung by bees.

This first pic is a type of Balinese grass. It is about 10ft high or 3m tall. I have a whole clump of them. It is just a like a giant clump of grass. It has a cooling effect as it shuts away a portion of the sun’s warmth.

This is chui tho kam. We just go out and pluck some when we feel like it. The dog doesn’t disturb the fruits, fortunately.

This one we just call chiam. Although it is juicy, it also has a lot of fibre. It is not as sweet as we wish it to be.

Sibu land is especially suitable for pomelo. The one you see here is as big as a bowling ball. It can keep for a long time.

This is not from my garden. I had it but threw it away. It is called pokok hantu by some Iban friends. When flowering ( 7 years once ) it grows a stalk about 20ft high and as tough as bamboo…the stalk I mean.

This is a parasitic plant which I found by the drain and brought it home. What distinguishes it from others is the base of the plant. It has all kinds of shapes and is hairy. It also causes allergy to some people. For this particular plant, when it was young, the base looked like the genital of a male human …now the shape has changed

This is not strictly a flower…just something that happened to grow in my flower pots and I was too lazy to throw it away

Another plant species which I like to see..the red coloured flowers amidst the flower pods.

Foo kui flower ….I have tried many times to make bonzai from this plant..cutting here and there etc but it just won’t be tamed. There are flowers galore all the time.
I have many other flowers in my garden and I love yam leaves and have many bougainvilleas in a myriad of colours but overgrown with weeds at the moment and not blooming as much as usual . Perhaps it is the weather
or just my neglect.
To the garden hobbyist, if you have ideas about how to organically increase yield of fruits please let me know. We do not use factory made fertilizers or pesticides or weedicides or whatever… in my garden… as we have a dog and Benghui is still too small and wanders around in the garden some times.

Uahh… Bengbeng, your garden has big trees in it. It’s looks more mature already.
Got a lot of citrus plants, i see.
Neglect eh.. i think your garden looks quite mature already. I suppose it only requires some maintenance work only.
Coolness, you like greens…
I have a man coming in to cut grass once a month…cheap RM11.00 per time
My mango is ahhhhh….first class! the aroma…
Not that I like greens..the flowers don’t bloom for me hahahahaha
