Young woman who killed 82 year old mother of boyfriend charged under section 302.

Two days ago a woman was formally charged with murder under section 302. The woman surname, Yek had gone to see her boyfriend late at night in Rejang Park and her boyfriend in his 30’s wasn’t in.
Her shouts for her boyfriend from the gate roused his mother who went out and had some words with her. In the heat of the moment, the young lady allegedly hit her with a helmet. Apparently the old lady was injured but otherwise seemed alright. However her condition later worsened a few days later and she died.
I am bringing up this topic because a few women known to me were talking about this recent development. Statistically the number of people involved is insignificant but suffice to say for this small group of people, this lady is more a pathetic victim of circumstances than a murderer.
They are horrified that a case like this should be charged under section 302 whereas cases involving real violent crimes ( in their eyes ) are reduced to manslaughter and a few years in prison.
From the heresay these women hear, this woman’s family has abandoned her at this moment when she needs them most.
It is not for us to judge or question under which section she is charged under but the interesting point is that instead of being condemned this woman has found herself becoming an object of sympathy especially among the woman folk.
This feeling cuts across the racial barrier.
There are a few issues at stake here. The age difference between the perpetrator and the victim, gender issues, and the fact that the woman is seen as almost a victim as the deceased.
