Lightning strikes brothers on motorcycle in Sarikei
It was totally unexpected. Ling Siew Kiong,20 was riding pillion on his brother’s motorcycle when lightning struck. He died on the spot. His brother is seriously injured and is now in Sibu hospital for further treatment.
Initially Sarikei residents thought it was a traffic accident. This occurrence has stunned and shocked the residents of Sarikei and everyone is now rooting for the other brother to recover soon.
Sarikei is about an-hour-drive from Sibu. It is famous for its pineapples and the majority of the residents there are Foochow.

Among the noticeable symptoms of lightning-strike victims are memory loss, attention deficits, sleep disorders, numbness, dizziness, stiffness in joints, irritability, fatigue, weakness, muscle spasms and depression
Safety measures :
If you can hear thunder, you are within striking distance. Seek safe shelter immediately. Stay off corded phones, computers and other electrical equipment that put you in direct contact with electricity or plumbing. Buy ground fault protectors for key equipment. When inside, wait 30 minutes after the last strike, before going out again.
If a person is struck by lightning, get medical help immediately. Cardiac arrest and irregularities, burns, and nerve damage are common in cases where people are struck by lightning. You are in no danger helping a lightning victim. The charge will not affect you.
