Supermarket is no match for elderly retired pensioner

I was at the check-out point when an elderly gentleman turned up. He was carrying a light blue helmet with black runner lining, short sleeved shirt not tucked, black pants, black shoes, and not a receeding hair out of place. He looked very clean and neat.
In a soft voice, he humbly apologized and explained his predicament to the cashier. This morning he had bought 6 packets of xxx brand name soya bean milk. It was as a surprise for his grandchildren. But when the kids had it, they discovered it was spoiled. He lost a lot of face and it was also potentially dangerous to the kids’ health.
He said he had come to tell the supermarket to check if the rest of the batch was also spoiled lest any one else gets food poisoning. It was simple : the spoiled ones had already curdled and no longer liquid in form. He also asked to be given six packets in return as compensation.
“We are very busy,” said the cashier which was true. There was a long line of people waiting to pay. “I would like to see the manager“, said the man. “How do we know these packets are the ones you bought from us? You have the receipt but these packets may not be the same. Go and buy some more. Please be more careful and alert next time“, said the lady as she brushed him off.
The old gent was hurt but not beaten. He went to the entrance of the supermarket and in an authoritative voice made an announcement. Everyone stopped and looked at him. “I am just an old retired pensioner. My money is limited and this company sells me rotten food for my good money. How can they do this?”, he asked. Uncles, aunties with “Ooh, aahs , what happened, what happened, what is it”‘ soon filled the air. A big crowd soon gathered around him in sympathy and some were looking at their baskets just to reassure themselves they were not buying spoiled goods.
Almost immediately the manager came, and dispersed the crowd. The old man was given 6 pickets of xxx brand soya bean milk and some tidbits amounting to about RM30.00 according to my estimates .
I respect a man like that!
