Sarawak medical authorities on alert for the dreaded Japanese Encephalities (JE)

It is not fair I know but some neighbours of a guy I know are casting a wary eye on his property nowadays. There’s nothing they can do. He was there before them. There is a smell around the whole area and the water in the drains nearby stink. The reason?

He keeps a few pigs on a commercial basis. Pig rearing farms were blamed for the JE epidemic which spread to humans via mosquito bites in the Negeri Sembilan outbreak. 84 people died.

Now medical authorities in the state are paying full attention to what is happening in Tudan. Tudan is a resettlement area and far from any pig breeding farms. There have been cases baffling the medical authorities there and they suspect it could be the dreaded Japanese Encephalities (JE). Residents in nearby area have been urged to be wary and extra cautious. Suspected cases detected in Tudan prompt call for precautionary steps by residents
.
The public is advised to keep their premises and compounds free from mosquito breeding grounds. When pressed for details, Miri Divisional Health Officer Dr Chin Zin Hing declined to give statistics but stressed the situation was under control and being closely monitored. Fogging has also been carried out. No deaths have been reported. Affected residents had been identified and vaccinated and treated.
