Simple home cooking - chicken curry rice
I created my curry chicken rice by accident. I was experimenting and it came out ok. My wife commented that it would have been like nasi beryani if I had dhal curry. She is just being kind. But it tasted very nice. You can try it sometime. Don’t sue me as I am no chef: just playing around in the kitchen.
These are the chicken pieces.
Curry powder for meat and a little kunyit powder mixed
In pic : coconut milk powder, oil, a little garlic, onions, sugar. tomato sauce, Not in pic : salt, tomato juice, pepper, a liitle corn flour to thicken the gravy, oyster sauce, 2 cups of rice. Benghui brought me sugar for pic taking instead of salt. I didn’t make a fuss. I just took a pic but I didn’t use it. I also decided I didn’t need to use oil as the chicken itself would produce its own oil.
The end result : curry chicken rice. All cooked in the rice cooker. I decorated pic with left-overs from lunch. Midin vegetable stir-fried with ikan bilis ( anchovies ) and soup ( tauhu with small chicken pieces ), salt and pepper. The other side dish is acar.
Method : dump everything in rice cooker, mix it well and wait for it to cook. Benghui couldn’t wait. He started to eat it the minute the rice cooker auto turned off. It was the smell. The secret is the chicken. The chicken somehow diffuses into the rice making it taste good no matter how we cook the rice.
If I had some raisins, bunga cengkeh, I believe it would be very professional. As it is, it was good enough to be sold in road-side-food-stalls.
