Good samaritan robbed of RM100 000 car in Sibu
It has often been said people in Sibu are not like people in Kuala Lumpur just to quote as an example. What is the main difference? People in Sibu are still relatively more trusting and not wary of strangers. They are still willing to stop and provide assistance.
A man in his 40’s reported to the police that he was robbed of his car by three men in Sibu Jaya early yesterday morning. He was driving along Jalan Maju about 12 midnight when three men stopped him and begged him to send them to Sibu Jaya. Later at Sibu Jaya the men then asked him to hand over all his money but he refused. He scrambled out of the car and ran to a house nearby for help. The men drove away with the car.
The complainant reported the matter about 4 am at the Central Police Station here.
Sibu Jaya is a new township near the Sibu Airport. It consists mainly of low cost homes and low medium cost apartments. It has been getting a bad repute from day one with some kinds of reports in the press from time to time.
People in Sibu however are quick learners. After this incident has been reported in the press, the issue will have been discussed, dissected and all kinds of comments made by all and sundry: young and old. In the final analysis, no one else in the future, however how genuine their distress is: will find it an easy task to get assistance from a member of the public. In a way, it is sad.
Just in case you may think this guy was after the money, I don’t think that was the reason. Sibu people please correct me if I am wrong. No sane guy would pick up 3 strange men and drive them to Sibu Jaya for some money in the middle of the night. His intentions were honorable. He wanted to help.
Meanwhile, Sibu people are still shocked over the discovery of a dead body of a woman inside a toilet of Sibu Hospital about 8 pm on Thursday. According to a medical staff, the dead woman, in her 40s from Balingian, was visiting her daughter-in-law who had just given birth, bringing with her some food. A family member said that the woman had complained of headache since a few days prior to the incident but did not see any doctor.
