Simple home-cook Chinese cooking for the beginner/small families
My wife is not around and I had to cook 2 square meals for myself and my little boy. Time constraint : I only had my lunch hour to cook and finish eating and washing. Because my son is a very picky eater, he refuses to touch anything which is not familiar to him. I added nothing exotic. Furthermore my time was very limited. I didn’t want to cook twice so it had to keep for dinner too.
Another constraint : there was very little left in the kitchen and refrigerator. By the way, I found that due to experience it takes next to no time for me to take pics hahaha.
Mixed vegetable : I stir fried 2 burgers, added a pinch of salt, added some carrots and lastly cabbage. Add a little water after stir frying the burger otherwise, the dish will be too ‘dry’.

Some years ago, I met a group of Philippino women working at night spots. They told me they were promised high-paying jobs and their stories were basically the same. They scrimped for money, flew over, had their passports taken and lived 15 to a standard hotel room. Early in the morning, if we were to leave our rooms, we would see them sleeping along the corridor. Some of them were armed with diplomas and degrees.

It is chilling and amazing what modern archaeological techniques can reveal about the past. Latest techniques have revealed that bones found at a prehistoric burial site at Wayland’s Smithy, near Uffington White Horse, Oxfordshire, in the 1960s could belong to victims of an ancient massacre and dated between 3590 BC and 3560 BC. It is speculated that the victims could have died in a stampede for land or livestock. The scientists also determined that of the victims, two were scavenged and dismembered by dogs. Oh my God, what detail.
The find could suggest that the Neolithic Age was more violent than previously thought. This new evidence could suggest that the time between 3625 BC and 3590 BC may have been one of social tension and upheaval.”

Fire ant problem in Ang Hock Si temple,Perak Road,Penang
The Ang Hock Si temple in Perak Road has been hogging the limelight recently because of a new threat. Poisonous ants. They have bitten the monks mercilessly. The ants have probably learned from experience the monks will not hurt them as it is against their faith to harm any living thing. An ant bite from the fire ant would normally cause swelling that lasts for one or two days. Rubbing with antiseptic lotion helps alleviates the symptoms a little.
The ant is called the fire ant. It is a real problem to the temple said Chief monk Venerable Boon Keng. If you have a solution to their problem, please contact the temple at 04-228 0503.

A dog, a man’s best friend
Other than the television, Upi, six-months-old dog is Benghui’s best friend. He will always wave his hand goodbye to the dog before leaving for school every morning and the dog will just look quietly at him and bark twice when he comes home after school. It happens every day. It is like they have a secret code between them. I am not part of the equation.
