My friend and I were as usual taking our morning breakfast when pops in a young man maybe 1.76m and 85kg. He has punk hair and has a little ‘toughness’ written all over him.

Young man : Hello Bengbeng. Hello Larry. Long time no see.
We strained to remember him and then realized he was a guy we met years ago in a function. I heard Larry you have a used Dell laptop for sale. I have a buyer. Sell it to me for RM1000. The buyer promised me RM1100. That will be my profit.

Larry: That is a reasonable price. My price is RM1000 and what you earn is your own business. You get the money and I will pass over the laptop to you, subject to your checking of the laptop first, of course.

Young man : No problem. Here is my number 019 xxxxxxx. But I forgot to bring my money today. I need to borrow RM100 from you first. You can get it back from the buyer’s cheque. ( Alarm bells ringing )

Larry : Let us finish our noodles first and passes the handphone ( under the table ) to me. I walk over to a corner and call the number he gave Larry. A lady speaking Iban answered.

I shook my head behind the young man and Larry, the young man and me finished the noodles.

Larry : I think my laptop is not in the best of condition. I will have to check on it first.

Young man : You have my cell-phone number. You can trust me and gives the same number.

Larry: Call me later.

We leave the scene. Larry and I are colleagues. Almost cheated by this young man. If Larry had given the money or Dell laptop to him, it would have been the last we have seen of him for a long time.
