Sibu Bengbeng almost bitten by snake
It was around lunch time and I was walking to my favorite eating stall when I almost stepped on this snake. It was pissed and angry and how to put it’ raised itself up’ and lunged at me. I could make it dramatic and say I dropped my kongpia or how I heroically caught it etc but all I did was manage to evade it in time. That too was a bit tricky because of my hurt ankle.
Passers-by too were surprised as nobody had noticed it. It was next to a dustbin and seemed to be camouflaged there. Two sweet young things screamed.
I came back later, armed with a camera and it was still there but no longer angry. Just enjoying life in the sun but hidden from public view unless you are looking for it. Some one told me this is a particularly poisonous snake. Anybody out there knows? A name would be enough to google for it to find out if it is poisonous,

Wah lau eh! That is one mean-looking snake! Thank God you and the other people around you are safe. So, what happened to the snake?
BB: we left it alone. to kill it is out of the question. it is also one of God’s creations
Yeah, what happened to the snake? It left?
BB: it must have just eaten. it was content to hide and soak in the sun. we can’t just kill it jus bcoz it had the bad luck to meet us
sibu full of lau jua wan! i remember seeing so many when i was living there, so syiok can die!
BB: will send u a box if u r interested
just send me yr credit card numbe rfor postage hahahahahah
Oi… Bring back home eat it up la… See who angry later
By the way, where you found those?
BB: old town sibu
i m so glad u did not kill it but left it alone. Many people will try to chase it away if not kill it because they are afraid it might bite another person.
I was in sabah, staying near the oranghutan reserve, and saw this snake high up a tree in the compound of the hostel I was staying at. IT was coiled round a branch. the staff were throwing stones at it to get it to move away. I thought they should leave it alone. The snake I saw in sabah had black and yellow bands all down the body. Yours looks like a bit of yellow at the head, and then black and white bands down the body. Its a long time since I live in a town where u can get snakes in the backyard as it were. haha.
don’t worry, that snake is not cobra , krait or even coral snake . the head is not wide and its spoon-shaped round head . which is not a venomous snake .

BB: cool. thanks.i am so glad we didnt harm the snake.and thanks for the info on how to identify a poisonous snake
Wow, that’s scary! what do you mean by almost stepped on it? But didn’t? And it got angry? Were you wearing shorts or long pants? Was it near a restaurant or hawker stall?
We have lots of cats in urban areas in KL but snakes are a rarity.
BB: snakes are ok if they are not poisonous
Wow that is one mean looking snake. Thankfully you didn’t step on it.
wow!
that is one scary experience!
I’m sure glad nobody pummelled it to death!
BB: i heard today it was killed lare by some Ibans at the scene later in the evening yesterday
There are a few types of poisonous snakes in Malaysia, i.e. cobras, kraits, sea snakes and vipers.. it doesn’t look like any of the above.
BB: one of the local Ibans said it is poisonous and usually found sugar-canes and bamboos, tall grass
That snake head so big wan!
BB: it is , isn’t it? the first instinct was fear!
Haha, I think what people said should be true: Sabahan and Sarawakian can catch snake easily.
BB: i didnt know people said that of sabahans and sarawakians hahahahaha
How big and long was that snake? It’s hard to tell from the pictures but in my imagination, it looks pretty large and scary to me! ;D
