Why toilets are jam packed in Nakaru, Kenya.

public toilets

Hey, have you heard? If you want to make a fortune, set up toilets in Nakaru, Kenya and charge by admission. What happened? Has there been a surge in gay activities or rise in people suffering from diarrhoea? :)

It is the Nakaru, Kenya council’s new policy. The council authorities passed a by-law banning smoking in public places . Now they are jam packed at rush hours. Occasionally people have to queue to access them. Smoking can land you in jail or lead to a fine of up to $140 :).

Plans to build special smoking areas have met with opposition from non-smokers who brand it a waste of public funds.

What will happen if the government implements the same laws strictly in Malaysia :) . That will be interesting. Very interesting. :)

Bengbeng’s childhood adventures

a1

I learned to cycle at the age of eleven. I used to secretly cycle to the beach and swim there and come back just before dinner time. By the time I reached home, I would be totally dry anyway. No body knew of our activities.

There were three of us. They were Ah Lin, Joseph and me. Joseph had a brush with crime but has since rehabilitated and become a successful man in China. He is earning in USD so I guess he should be doing well. I met Ah Lin a few years ago. She is still active in the softball circles.

Remembering Leslie Cheung and depression

I don’t know how I suddenly remember Leslie Cheung this morning. Maybe it is triggered by stats which revealed someone was accessing my website to search for Leslie Cheung. I practically grew up watching him in the movies. I saw him more often than I saw my real relatives whom I met only at weddings.
