This week I have posted art from an old pre second world war house. Doors like these are rapidly vanishing. What you see is the door and tiles of the house.

Some background of the house

intricate designs … i guess doors like that are quite expensive to make nowadays, hence the scarcity.
good uploads for the theme. :)

Amazing. You don’t see things like that everyday. We have a fireplace that is hand tiled with the tiles hailing from Germany. It’s little touches like that that add personality to a building.

  3. absolutely stunning. I love the carved wood flower design. Great shot of the intricacy!!

It’s a shame this sort of art is disappearing. It is so detailed. Happy weekend.

Wouldn’t it be grand to have a front door like that? I love the colors on the tiles, they are just beautiful!

  10. This is beautiful. How proud I would be to have a door like that!

Imagine the months spent creating all these wonders. For their beauty and their relevance, and for the effort poured into these, that gives the next generation the responsibility and the obligation to preserve these works of art.

    Great art.
But I guess it is not easy to maintain it in its pristine state

It is classic! Difficult to get it now. I can only see this at Malacca. That also at selected places.

Thank you all for visiting my blog and all your kind comments. it is especially meaningful as the place is a special place to me and Ah San in the story is my father.

I apologize though for not visiting your blogs and giving comments as i am traveling and do not have access to the net and i only type and save and then copy n paste when I am near a computer. part of the problem is i have little time alone and not much access to transport now that i am on holiday. However I promise i will be a better cyber buddy in the future after my travels. :)

After this, my friends will be picking me up from this cyber cafe in Chulia St and we r going to Batu Feringghi night spots.
