Cops get additional statement from Ying Ying’s father
In Penang, acting state CID chief Supt Nashir Ya told the press that police have recorded an additional statement from Ooi Eng Chew, Shearwey Ooi Ying Ying’s dad to tie up a few loose ends in their investigations.
The case is being investigated as a murder case but they need to look at all possible angles. Meanwhile, the members of the police force have been very busy. They have been searching for clues and evidence at the three streams and a cemetery in Paya Terubong. They hope to find more of Ying Ying’s remains.
For first time readers, Shearwey Ooi Ying Ying’s mother, Jess Teh had initially reported her daughter lost after she had been left alone while she went to pay a parking ticket. The Penang folks had tried their best to help her locate her child including at least 1000 members of the state MCA.
However a trip-up in her statement to the police have lead her to be remanded together with her boyfriend, Ong Chee Leong on suspicion of murdering the child.
The boyfriend lead police to the places where evidence were found including fragments of her bones and her burnt pyjamas.
