FAM ( Football Association of Malaysia ) faces some soul searching
After the recent stint in the Asian cup, the national team conceded 12 goals in a total of three matches. China bt M’sia 5-1, Iran bt M’sia 2-0, Uzbekistan 5-0. Many reflect on the glory days in the past where Mokhtar Dahari, Soh Chin Aun etc were keeping the fans excited and cheering the national team.
Nowadays few fans turn up to watch matches. There is no longer the hype surrounding matches and fans have literally left the sport in droves. So, the big question is : what happened?
Now is not the time to finger point. Already, FAM seems like a sinking ship. Axed coach, Norizan Bakar hit out at the cabinet for his dismissal. He had he said done his best with the talents he had at his disposal. “We should be looking for solutions,” he said.
Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said:
Most of the cabinet ministers are utterly disappointed by what has happened with the national team.
FAM deputy president Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah was disappointed too and apologized to the football fans and later tendered his resignation. This was followed by independent council member Khairy Jamaluddin who also resigned but was asked to stay on by FAM president Sultan Ahmad Shah of Pahang.
The question still remains unanswered. What went wrong? What are the factors responsible for the malaise in this once most watched sport in the country?

Need more practice on passing the ball…don’t pass to opponent hahaha
BB: u shud make a good coach hahahaha
Maybe is the right time to ‘look around’ to find out why others used to call not so good teams can perform thousand times better than ours!
BB: another reason is that the economy is good, ppl tend to focus on other matters
The team should watch a movie. I mean the recordings of their own matches.
BB: i think they probably do watch recordings…perhaps not enough international exposure
they didn’t hire u to coach thats why they lost!
BB: i think they didnt go down in standard, just that others are advancing too fast ..the science of sports
