Of a single mother, sick son and simple faith
Character: 44 yrs, 1.72m, 63 kg attractive, single mother of three. She has very lovely long hair, high cheek bones, big eyes but her greatest asset- her smile.
Nadia: My boss rejected my leave application. He is single and doesnt understand the needs of a mother. My son had his appendix removed six months ago. He is still in pain. The doctor can only give an appointment in the morning. I have to pay RM1.00 every time my son visits the hospital.
The hospital assistant said that the pain is common but he is in so much pain. He vomits so often but doesn’t go to the toilet because of the pain. Something is wrong. It has been going on and off for six months already after he had the appendix removed. The x-ray showed nothing unusual and I am awaiting the results of the blood test.
People look down on a single mum like me. Some women think I am a threat. I am just a hard-working woman working to put food on the table. If I had a chance to relive my life, do you think I wouldn’t take it? Such is my life. Tuhan maha memahami. Puji Tuhan. (God fully understands. Praise God). He has been my rock through all these years.
Do you know how much suffering I have encountered? How many jobs I had to do? How many direct selling jobs I had to take? I was never successful. To me, the successful ones are those with big capital and already a success. To them, people like me hanya mainan dia orang dengan cerita kejayaan dan impian. Saya sudah berusaha bersungguh-sungguh. Literally translated- I am like their play thing. They entice me with stories of their success and vision. I have tried my very best and done everything I could.
Would I marry again? You must be kidding. Yes, it would be nice to have a man in the house. But in a few more years my eldest will be working. I don’t need a man now. Tuhan maha menyayangi. Dia kasihan saya. Dia akan memberkati keluarga saya. ( God is love. He sees my plight. He will bless my family) .
Suddenly I feel humbled by this woman. I realize now I haven’t really noticed her before other than making sure I give her children angpows when they visit me during the Chinese new Year. Her faith has given her strength and sustained her. Would it be fair comment to say that her faith is more real and alive than people with less acute needs.

Itulah ujian dari Tuhan, berapa tahun kemudian apabila anak sulungnya bekerja, itulah hari untuk nikmat.

Some people don’t have it easy, do they? There are not enough compassionate people in this world.
I thank God that in the school I work, mothers and even fathers take time off to care for their sick children and still get paid. Of course when it comes to such a relaxed system, it is easily abused and abused it has been by many staff.
After a while, you can tell who is abusing the system and you soon learn to authorise leave with pay or without pay.
My heart goes out to this single mum. I pray she remains strong and I pray her son will recover from whatever problem is suffering from his operation.
the main problem is the hospital says that the pain will persist for a long time after every appendix operation. i don’t think it is like that. until now there is no result
but her faith keeps her strong
The hospital assistants are quite good there.
BUT I think that he should see the medical officer at least in the surgical department rather than the hospital assistant in the outpatient department.
Should be referred to the doctor to be assessed properly.
I really don’t think that Xrays and blood tests are going to be helpful.
thanks.i will pass on the comment.
