My experience with ghosts, spirits and exorcism

monk

I was asked to help out with a youth camp some time ago. We needed a place big enough to accommodate about a hundred people so our choice of venue was limited.

Anyway we settled on a place well known for paranormal phenomena. So to be on the safe side, the organizing committee decided to hold an exorcism the night before the youth camp. Prior to that, in preparing for the camp some of us had encountered sightings.

It started at about 2000 hours. The monk in traditional monk’s garb led the group of us in prayers and we started the exorcism rites. It was decided that all the adults join in. He led the chanting while we all chanted along. It was a simple chant as we couldn’t hold the chant book and move around. He rang a bell and sprinkled water to appease any unfriendly spirits.

I did see some. Some readers will of course pour scorn on this. I am used to that. They are just ignorant. I presume I was asked to be there precisely because I was known to have ‘the sight’. We walked along corridors and up and down staircases in single file . I could sense them loitering all around us. Even in the quarters where the school girls were resting.

How did I know they were there? It was gut instinct. I could ’see’ them from the corner of my eye. There was a tension in the air and it seemed like a country street because we were the intruder. They had turned out to look at us. We were the ’spectacle’.

The last room we exorcised was a kitchen. The aura was so strong and thick you could slice it with a knife. The monk with his saffron robes walked bare-footed chanting and ringing the bell and sprinkling water. It was dark and crowded with the twenty of us. I saw them in the room with us. They didn’t leave which was a rare thing.

Many of us were scared as they later told me. I left the line to turn on the lights. I had to turn, sidestep them twice to avoid going through them. Some realized what the sidestep meant. I finally reached the light and turned it on. The atmosphere slowly diminished.

I was quizzed repeatedly about the incident all through the camp. I said nothing happened. I told them I saw nothing. But they were there. They were blocking my way. The more senior members of the organizing committee ( including me ) said a prayer of thanks when the whole camp ended without any cases of hysteria or disturbances three days later.

This is not a ghost story. A ghost story implies demonic beings etc etc etc. Here we were exposed to a parallel universe and lived with them. The youth were innocent, naive and had faith our presence would protect them. What concerned the youth more was the totally 100% vegetarian diet they had to take. None of us were harmed in any way. This is a true story.

It is indeed wise to thank them for allowing you guys to carry on with the camp smoothly, even though some of you do not have the ability to sense their presence.

it is better not to have the ability, trust me on that :)

My sister recently blogged about her experience as someone who has the “sight” too. As much as I am curious to know what is it that you guys see, I’m thankful that I don’t have that gift because I’m sure there must be times when you wish you don’t have it right?

Good thing that youth camp went well despite so many presence around.

there are those who shot down what they don’t understand in the name of holy scriptures :)

clement: one person can imagine…a group can mass hallucinate without drugs? You can go. It is a famous place. You cannot understand because you do not have it or read the scriptures deeply enough..not that i do :)

I don’t doubt ur “special” ability. I call it being sensitive to the spiritual realm, it’s not just towards ghosts, demons, etc but also godly spirits. Young children are more “sensitive”. I was sensitive until my mid-20s and seem to have lost that sensitivity nowadays. Adults seem to be too engrossed in the things of the world except for some.

Btw, I enjoy all ur ghost stories.

Thank you. It is a curse.

Never experienced, never encountered and don’t wish to.

I am not keen on things like that. Even when my cousin who acknowledges that she is oon kei (able to see dead souls), told me she has seen many in hotel rooms, lifts, etc, causes me to have sleepless nights. Eeeekk…..bye bye!

then, you are a blessed woman :)

ouch… must be hard to deal with these kinds stuffs.

are they always vengeful, are the TV’s depictions of them true to some degree? So many questions. sorry hehe.

in my humble opinion, it depends on their circumstances

  14. Adino on 20 August, 2007

I don’t want to read this totally as it’s just me and my daughter right now and it’s a little past eleven in the evening but I browsed. Oh yeah, reminded me of The Sixth Sense. Creepy really. You’re brave to acknowledge a “gift” like this. Do you consider this a “gift”?

I got these when i tried to comment on yr blog: We’re sorry, but we were unable to complete your request. I used to think it fun until it got out of control. No, it is not a gift. more of a curse. i hope my son loses his ’sensitivity thingy’ soon too.

Grew up with this all my life, all I know is sometimes we humans are the ones that kacau the spirits then we komplain they not happy so we go find ang kong to drive them away which is absolutely not fair as they were there first before we cut down trees to build our homes and wat nots.

i have missed yr visits and yr comment in my blog :)
