Bintangor/Binatang and Lions Eye Glasses Recycling Campaign
We went to Bintangor or Binatang as it was once called. Due to the negative nature of its name it was then changed to Bintangor. It is about an hour drive away from Sibu
The local lions club had organized an eye-glasses recycling campaign. The public were encouraged to donate their used eye glasses.

This is the bin for used eye-glasses.
Bintangor is famous for its Bintangor oranges. The other thing is its local rojak. People from Sibu stop here to buy rojak on their way back to Sibu from Sarikei or Kuching.
The taste is not too bad. The rojak in this pic costs me RM3.00
The wharf and the river used to be very important as an economic life-line to the town. However all that has changed with the emergence of the Lanang Bridge. Nowadays people prefer to drive down to Sibu.
This is the town hawker centre.
Businesses have been affected a little as often people drive down to Sarikei or Sibu to do their shopping.
