Please adopt my child. RM1000

A middle-aged female hawker, Ling, was approached by an 8 month pregnant woman, Tiong, to help adopt her child on Sept 19. She was asked to pay Rm1000.00 to help pay for Tiong’s expenses. Apparently she had five children already and was unable to feed another mouth. The lady hawker in her 50s initially refused but changed her mind out of sympathy. She visited the lady and saw 5 children aged between 3 and 8, pale and hungry sleeping on the floor. There was no furniture be it chairs or a table in the house.

The hawker, surnamed Ling then signed an agreement with the couple on the matter. Periodically she went to check on the mother and child. One day, she received a call from the woman’s husband asking for another Rm700.00 for medical expenses and for flight tickets back to Sibu. She was told the woman had delivered in Kuching.

She paid and that is the last she heard from them. No RM1700.00 and no baby.

She has reported the matter to the police. The police are investigating the case under section 402 of the Penal Code. The identities of the couple are believed to be known to the police. The woman had been arrested in 2005 for abducting a baby boy.

I do feel for Mrs Ling. She tried to do the right thing and then people abuse her compassion and generosity.

I have personal things to say about adoption but I won’t here due to personal reasons.

May God help Mrs Ling overcome this emotional crisis. I think to her it is not so much the money now but the fact someone abused her trust and compassion.

    you got a point here.

Sometimes you see people walking around on the street begging. Sometimes you see “representative” asking for a donation. Many would just give a Ringgit or two, it’s not too much. Problem is, a lot of times these are fakes.

That is why people give less now, because of all these culprits that pray on the generous people ..

true..they make us jaded to the real ones who r in need :(

If people approach me just like that then I will ignore her. Not that I am bad.. Just scared to be cheated..

If I know the lady for long time, I will try to ask help from others or ask help from social center..

u forget this is Malaysia :(

I believe there is a belief in Catholic that no abortion should be made as it will bring bad karma. But having the child and then cheat off some good souls in the process is bad karma too. I do not blame the couple who cheated on the poor folk. Perhaps they themselves are facing many difficulties in life. However, their actions are frown upon. It is not ethical at all.

i got the news from the police report which was then reported in the press. however if there r so many kids…the story is easy to believe if money is a problem

    Such is life. :(

That’s why it’s best to safeguard oneself, and have no expectation on things that are done.

Same with the churches these days isn’t it. Long ago it was AOG, now it’s Charismatic, but both have more or less the same set of…

Emotions is key to success, may it be good or bad. ;)

to b honest, i am still mong mong cha cha where religion and God is concerned but I am a believer.

Personally, I believe that religion and God are two different things. Especially when you put Christianity in the equation.

Religion is something habitual. Look at Islam, Taoism, Buddhism, or what have you…compare that to the churches we see these days. Any difference? Very slight.

In churches, there is still a symbol, an image of who we ‘believe’ in, same with temples.

In churches, there are offering and tithes, do you think temples don’t have it either?

In churches, there is a hierachy of individuals that are ‘holier-than-thou’, same with temples?

In churches, your sins are forgiven through prayer and confession, how different is it to other religions?

Now, let’s take church out of the equation, and place God in the centre. What’s the difference? A personal and intimate relationship that surpasses everything that doesn’t require any mediators. Also, one must not discount the beauty of fellowship and loving thy neighbour as oneself. ;)
