Learning Mandarin the fun way
If you are living in my house, you will be pleasantly surprised and perhaps raise your eyebrows. Benghui can be seen reading Chinese and he reads it aloud. Surprisingly he reads it quite accurately as he mimics his teacher well. Mandarin has now become his favorite subject.
He joined only about 7 sessions ago. It costs RM100 for twice a week and each session lasts 2 hours. It is run by a lady from China who targets 15 students or more but not too many in a class. She is very kind and motherly to the kids. She protects the kids until the parents come. In turn, the children love her.
Her program involves reading aloud together, playing games using the computer, and using power point to teach. A large part of her program involves motivation as the class claps for each achievement using specially learned codes of beats and claps. Almost all the children behave well as they I assume are too happy to make mischief
There is no pinyin or Roman alphabets that Benghui used to read instead of the Chinese characters. He reads in a sing song manner as if he is reading in class. It is amusing too but he seems to have memorized the chants.

He used to hate writing Chinese but he seems to enjoy writing Chinese now. Sometimes I think children are very fickle. Their interests change so fast. Whatever the reason for his change in attitude, I am very grateful to this teacher. Renghui reads English story books and Malay books all the time. He hated learning Chinese. I hope this means his grades in Chinese will go up after this.
Update: I just received an sms. This is not a sponsored post., Hahaha.
Bengbeng | Benghui, Education Issues

That’s really good. I have always thought Chinese is so easy to learn compared to English.
A lot depends on the teacher. Many students want to do well because they love the teacher, they enjoy the lessons and they do not feel pressured. Sadly, there are many disillusioned teachers today, teachers who do not seem to know what they’re doing, teachers who teach only for the money (or they can’t find another job), teachers who give tonnes and tonnes of homework (and don;t even mark or explain!!!)etc…etc…etc…;there are all kinds of teachers these days. Obviously Benghui’s lucky to get a good one. Good luck, Benghui! Have fun!
he loves this tuition class n always says nice things abt his teacher
