Of Sibu flood waters drying up, heart disease and loving parent-son relationship

drain-low-water Situation back to normal..look at the drain.

:) Hello everybody. Omg I feel good and rested. First good sleep I had in three days. When I saw the water would not go up too high I fell into a restful slumber. It has been a stressful experience waiting for the flood waters to come into the house. I have a few more hours before I go to work after lunch.

cleaning up Every body is busy cleaning up.

cycling The school children are back on the streets.

I however met a farmer friend from Sg. Bidut. He told me he lost all his crops due to the floods. I felt really sorry for him. He brought some durians to sell at the market. Not particularly good durians too. He told me not to buy. He said to buy the next time. When he saw the presence of ‘government officers’ he said a hasty goodbye and disappeared. I wish I had bought some from him. :(

I also met a guy who told me his father had a medical problem during the floods. He wanted to take him to hospital but it was impossible. It was impossible for him alone to carry his father through the flood waters nor expect any help from ambulances. In the end, the father said to let it be.

Finally, when the waters permitted, he managed to see the doctor and has been given an appointment to see the the doctor in Kuching in January next year. In the mean time, his father “can barely breathe without getting tired” , to quote my friend. The father has stopped drinking and smoking now. The father has just bought a 4-storey shop house to be given to his son in case of an emergency. The instincts of a father….touching and beautiful.

Glad to read that everything is almost back to normal. I have fear of flood too. A few years ago, my parents’ house was flooded too. They are still worry that the same phenomenon will reoccur.

it might recur…life is so uncertain

Aiyo…where got I’m loaded? Now on pension…half of my basic salary! How to make ends meet? Sigh…thank God for my insurance policies, now maturing! Can put in bank and earn a bit of interest…so got a bit more money to spend. But at 3.7%…there isn’t going to be much. Thank God my anak on scholarship, otherwise I’d have to sell everything to send her for further studies!!!
