I read Lillian and her post amused me. She and Mrs Bengbeng could be blood sisters hugging each other when they meet hehehehehhehe. They share some similar views. Lilian you are sure you are not from the Rejang basin somewhere? 
I feel the scales are moving the other direction. Men have been contributing more to the household nowadays. It is the sign of the changing times. Gone forever are the days when the father comes home and plops in front of the television. The men are all working hard in the office, bringing their work home and at the same time share 50% of the household duties.
The ladies nowadays have a much easier life than my mother or grandmother for example. That is just an introduction. Now back to the topic of buying gifts. A friend of mine said men are the ones expected to give the gifts because men earn more and women earn less.I think this is not always the reality now.
Mrs Bengbeng and her soul sister, Lillian share the same thought that my giving her a pot and pan is meaningless in terms of sentiments. In my opinion it is a good use of precious resources, namely my money.
For me, something must have utility to have value. Call me unromantic. Call me kiamsiap but that is me. Anyway, I always buy her some clothing every time I leave Sibu, no matter how near or far. Or I buy her some household gadget.
Anyway how many women wake up with breakfast on the table? ( notice : pot already in use )
Laundry nothing to worry about unless it rains and hubby is out at the gym.
I seriously think my taking out the dustbin every time without fail ought to be considered a long term recurring gift. Hey wifes out there: we husbands need to be appreciated too
My first ever gift to her, a music box at the top first pic is now relegated to a toy for Benghui. Trust me , buy durable stuff or just give money. But when both have money, money is meaningless. Buy something useful. Throw romance out the door hahahhahaah. 
P.S. She always seems very tired after coming back from work. I considered getting a maid but Mrs BB doesn’t like the intrusion on our privacy. I don’t know. Am I just a Chinaman Apek left behind by the current trends? The typical Ah Beng

I totally agree with you. I couldn’t stay with a man who just gave me stuff like that music box every year. I like utility! Otherwise it just means more useless junk everywhere.

And I agree with li! Eagle kah? Aiyo! At least lah…buy Corningware or Tefal!!! And the baju! Eyew…! That says it all! LOL! Also no need to buy lah! They’ll wear once…and never again! Want to sell to other people, also cannot! I think the best is just buy a bouquet of flowers! Roses! Cranations for old women, white lilies for dead ones! So romantic…and they can enjoy them till they wither and then throw them all away. U buy them things, they oso dunno where to keep the pieces of junk. Put on display, also have to dust over and over again! Kacau only like dat! (Ha ha ha ha ha! Women! Memang pening!)
