For those of you looking for a new mid-size MPV check out the New Nissan MPV. Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd launched the Nissan Grand Livina today and the prices range from RM82,800 to RM95,300. There is a choice of six colors. Nissan described it as a stylish MPV which offers a totally new driving experience…like a sedan with flexibility

The models available comes in three variants with a choice of two engine specifications, a 1.6L engine with either manual or automatic transmission variants and 1.8L engine, which comes in the automatic transmission variant.

The size of the Grand Livina is close to that of an Avanza but the Nissan sits lower. This might deter some buyers who have a phobia of sinking roads and floods. Its looks are bold and different. The side profile is well proportioned and quite clean, with well defined edges rather than a curvaceous look. it is spacious and comfortable although the ceiling is low for a MPV.

The instrument panel has a simple layout and pleasing to the eye. Check it out here

I would love to trade in my bone-shaker for this car but I am not in position to change my car at the moment :) . Check out if you can afford it here

Sibu is such a small town and the roads are often narrow and small. What I cannot understand is why people must have such big cars, other than the fact that it’s just an ego trip for some kiasu individuals. (Somehow it seems that the bigger the cars, the smaller the brains!! Did I hear “Ouch”?)Notice how these stationary cars emit so much fumes when they start to move e.g. at the traffic lights. And what about the fuel consumption. Think of the environment. If they need it for their business or they have big families or the whole family the same shape and size as suituapui, perhaps that’s understandable. Unfortunately, I can’t afford one…so in my old jalopy, it’s a tight squeeze!!!

I heard some overseas car the spare parts can be hard to get in Malaysia, which also means more expensive. :/ Proton seems to be the best option for this, but I also heard Proton breaks down easily. haha so in the end, Proton also not so good.

Proton not so bad :) and spare parts easy to get. but the models need a make over and a revamp

I think the car is a good option for families with 2-3 kids, since these days one need to cater for an extra maid or mom/dad.

Although Livina would offer a better driving experience from the Avanza, I think the price will be deterrent to many.

An 1.5Auto Avanza with full body kits is less than 70k on the road, compared to RM91K for a 1.6Auto Livina. That’s a RM 21,000 difference for a bit better driving.

For me, to make the Avanza a better driving experience will cost only RM 3k to upgrade the suspensions to TITAN. Once a new lower suspensions are added in it drives as good as any car. Total cost will only be 73K! This makes the Livina price to be ridiculous.

The 1.8Auto version is too expensive at almost RM100k on the road. I think there are other options when you touch 100k.
