Divorce yourself from your life and with one bound, you are free

brackets n support

I read this on Anthony’s blog. There seems to be some problem linking it so I have copy and pasted the contents here. Worth a second thought huh?

With one bound, you are free.

This writer says it is very nice to be free of responsibilities, own nothing, and owe no one, but living homeless in the freezing cold and a public toilet is no fun. She is wrong. For some desperate married man, fed up with having to be responsible to other people all his life, it is a price well worth paying.

All this applies only to married man. They are the ones that get trodden on and imposed upon. For some of them, it may well be worth paying for the freedom from wife and kids. Not that he hates them, he just hates being solely responsible for them. It is too much to ask of anyone, and so I can understand if a married man decides to get out of it.

In India, married men can take up the life of a holy man, renounce everything and go off to live a life of non possessions. They can provide for their family, and having done their duty can disappear.

But here in Modern Britain, short of disappearing in a canoe, the only way is go bankrupt, and at a stroke owe nothing and shed all responsibilities.

Such a lovely thought. You can stop there, or you can go further, and do an Ed, get drunk, and get thrown out of the family home, and so free to roam about and be ur own man. As he has found out, it is a joy to live unemcumbered, with only himself to look after, and no one to tell him what to do. haha.

At this particular moment the idea of walking away from it all is very tempting. I am so tired of being the part-time house husband. I cannot afford to insist Mrs Bengbeng stops working but it saps my energy. I have been up since six to prepare food for every body. Then there was the physical labor of doing the plaster work. It was part of the deal. I helped them out as they were short of man-power for a discount.

Don’t blame me for being hungry for a discount. I need money just as every body else.

Some how or other this monster managed to be taken out of the house. With four adults it didn’t seem heavy at all. There is a metaphor in this some where about how we over-exaggerate obstacles and let them become an encumbrance rather than dealing with it head-on.

plaster powder

Some of the materials used. The house is so messy and I had to do some cleaning up before I leave for work after lunch. Then, there is the problem of feeding benghui..which means more cooking and thinking up activities for him to do.

I was manual labor this morning as I am not skilled enough to do the more exacting work required today :( I feel very tired. Tony Hii left all his DIY in his university days and here I am still forking it out. Sigh …sigh. … :(

laundry

There are still a few more loads of laundry. Honestly Anthony’s idea of With one bound, you are free seems very very very very tempting to me now. :)

hi bengbeng, haha, when it gets to the worst, it means it can only get better. If it is any consolation, this disruption is only temporary. There is an end to it. I shall be looking forward to pictures of the newly decorated house. AFter it is all over, u will be able to blog about what u have learnt about house renovation. What to do, what not to do. haha.Without even having done any renovation, i know one thing I shall avoid if it were me. Never allow the wife any say in the renovation. If you are lucky she will say ‘in that case forget about the renovation. I forbid u to do it because there will be so much dust I wont be able to stand it’. and u can then go back to those lazy days of doing nothing with lots of time to blog. haha.

Thanks for yr email. will reply in due course :)
