Of Toyota Avanza, big cars and fuel consumption
Suituapui my friend and resident commentor:
Sibu is such a small town and the roads are often narrow and small. What I cannot understand is why people must have such big cars, other than the fact that it’s just an ego trip for some kiasu individuals. (Somehow it seems that the bigger the cars, the smaller the brains!!
Did I hear “Ouch)Notice how these stationary cars emit so much fumes when they start to move e.g. at the traffic lights. And what about the fuel consumption. Think of the environment. If they need it for their business or they have big families or the whole family the same shape and size as suituapui, perhaps that’s understandable.
Unfortunately, I can’t afford one…so in my old jalopy, it’s a tight squeeze!!!

I can understand his sentiments. With the unavoidable and expected increase in petrol prices, my friends in the new car and used cars business are telling me that smaller models are receiving more queries and selling more than big petrol guzzling spacious model like SUV of MPV although MPVs are still relatively popular.
For me, I need a car with a high road clearance. It should not be long for parking will be a problem within my compound. The consumption should be economical and the interior is very important. I need it to be spacious and comfortable. Not to mention a wide storage space. It must be powerful enough to overtake a car without any problems with at least 5 passengers in the car.
What is your ideal dream car? I mean one you can afford to buy and maintain
For me, the dream car is Toyota Avanza. It is a cool car, can seat seven and has a reasonable price tag.

just bought the toyota rav4, a suv. haha does that make me a kiasu then? it’s for my growing family, so space is of utmost importance b’cos i’m claustrophobic sometimes.
so to be more ‘green’ with our choice, we keep the suv’s emission down for family weekend outings only. that’s the best i can do for our environment for now i’m afraid….
Americans used to be egotistic - they loved driving big cars that guzzled petrol. The world oil crisis changed their mentality. Now they all opt for petrol-efficient Japanese cars. That explains the high penetration of Toyota into the American markets.
In four years’ time, Malaysia is going to turn round to become a net-importer of oil. By then, our petrol price might easily double.
So, petrol- efficiency is the word of the day.
If petrol prices double I will have to use a motor bike
though it would b dangerous for my lousy reflexes
A SEVEN-seater, Bengbeng? U planning to have FOUR more children??? Hmmm…no comments! Ha ha ha ha ha!!!
