No it wasn’t ndonesia’s Mike Mohede or Jaclyn Victor . It was Singaporean singer Hady Mirza who ogt the coveted title. Winning was decided fully by SMS voting. The other contestants were Phuong Vy (Vietnam), Mau Marcelo (the Philippines) and Abhijeet Sawant (India).

The 28-year-old Singaporean won a fully-paid trip around the world. He performed two songs on Saturday night, his rendition of Taufi k Batisah’s Berserah and U2’s Beautiful Day. I guess his victory was a foregone conclusion when the audience of over 5000 people at Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran gave him a standing ovation

His performance of the latter probably sealed his victory as it was greeted by a standing ovation by over 5,000 people at Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran.

The judges — Paul Moss (Malaysia), Siu Black (Vietnam), Ken Lim (Singapore), Anu Malik (India), Indra Lesmana (Indonesia) and Pilita Corrales (Philippines) were unanimous in picking him a sthe winner.

Hady said,

” Looking at how great the performances by the other contestants were, I thought my chances were slim. Maybe I had a little bit of luck on my side, This win is not just for me, but also for the rest of the contestants, who like me, are doing this in the name of our love for music.”
