Delta Mall, Sibu and acrophobia
Being Sunday, I took my family to the new shopping centre, Delta Mall. The location is strategic for me and there are so many parking lots though when all the outlets are open, that may no longer be the case. With the advent of Sen Q in Sibu, the prices of electrical goods are expected to become more competitive.
The signs are all there that the official opening was only yesterday. It was a soft launch as most of the outlets were still closed. We went there for the Kentucky Fried Chicken but it was still closed.
An uneventful outing except that Benghui refused to step on the escalator. He looked for a lift or staircase. He almost got hysterical about not riding the escalator. It is uncommon for a eight coming on nine year old kid to exhibit almost hysterical behaviour like this. Any tips scientific or otherwise? He has already told us he will not go to the place ever again.
Anyway there is a place selling hardware near the Delta Mall. It is called JCI Factory Outlet. The boss is always alert as to the happenings on the market. Window shop at his place before checking out other places. Bargaining is acceptable. I saved quite a lot of money here and in Daiti. Benghui almost forgot about his hysterical behaviour when they gave him a balloon.
I am very confused by his aversion to escalators. It makes no sense at all.
What about escalators at other shopping centers?

Most of the shops not open lah! Don;t know why they were in such a hurry to declare the mall open. Probably a good day for that in the Chines lunar calendar. Why, Benghui scared of escalators! Must have had a bad experience in the past…maybe one that u don’t know of, when he went out with ur Mrs.
He must had horrible experiences witht the escalators, y not sit down and have a good talk about it? Have to try slowly, though.

I tot only me in Sibu who blog about Delta Mall. Thanks for your publicity, i’m running my handphone shop inside there. We are still waiting for the place to be fuly occupied, else i think you wont see me there few months later. Haha.
About the esclator, u can tell BengHui, be brave, u hold his hand tight, guess after few times, he should be ok. My nephew used to be like him. Alternatives, u can always take lift, there is lift near the toilet and also next to the DVD shop.
Give me a visit next time, i chia benghui makan “tong tong”.
