noodles

I went shopping today with Mrs Bengbeng. I am still shell-shocked. Almost everything has gone up in price. If nothing is done soon, things will go out of control. The Rm50.00 is handled randomly in our daily lives now when compared to the past it was considered a big note.

There are posts about the residences of the rich and famous, Buckingham Palace, The White House etc but no post about the residences of the not rich and not famous. Maybe it is because we do not want to be reminded of the mundane nature of our own lifes.

market street

I bumped into my friend this afternoon. He was lamenting the fact that it didn’t seem like new year. He had no new influx of customers or anything of that kind. ting

sibu

I discovered this place only a few days ago. I first saw it when I was with wuching but I didn’t realize it was open to the public. I must admit I know little about the history of Sibu town itself other than the first Foochow pioneers arrived in Sibu on board the M.S. Hong Bee about a century ago. It has developed by leaps and bounds since then.

We were fortunate enough to be invited to visit a long house at Sungai Assan. We were given a warm welcome including the traditional tuak and miring. When the cock was brought out to be sacrificed, all parties decided to let the cock live. The ceremony was mainly symbolic.
