Deforestation, insect kumbang and loss of habitat

Today I had to go somewhere to ‘observe’ a situation. But it was actually a ‘non situation’. Certain trees encroached onto another land owner’s property and this encroachment had to be stopped by the chopping down of some trees in a small forest if it can be called that.

What made the morning unusual was this insect or kumbang. I have no idea of the name. None of the locals have seen it before. It emerged after the branches were chopped down.

It didn’t bite or anything. It was rather tame and unafraid of human beings. It could fly but it chose not to fly. It clung to me until I decided I had to leave and made it fly away. It seemed lost as its familiar habitat was no longer familiar.
