Malaysian ghost story-my parents return

Today’s post will probably be met with ridicule by certain quarters. Perhaps it was caused by the one full can of beer I had last night. But I believe I wasn’t drunk as I could publish this post last night before sleeping. I tried to comment on tnchick but couldn’t so I decided to go to sleep. Anyway, one can of beer isn’t likely to make me drunk.

I had a dream. My lao pa died ten years ago. My lao ma died twenty years ago. In the dream, my dad was in my bedroom. Mrs Bengbeng was sleeping soundly. I woke up. I heard the sound of Benghui sleeping on the floor. He sleeps in the room when I return home late. He will wait in my room until he falls asleep.

I saw my dad. He told me I need not get up. Not to disturb Amy. I looked at him and realized I was beginning to look like him. We talked and talked. There were no words spoken but there was communication. He told me I had chosen a wrong name for his grandson. He said the name was ‘pang gi or cheap. Then he left. Then it was my mother’s turn. She was crying looking at Benghui. She asked me not to mind my lao pa’s words.

It was weird. Real weird. Mrs Bengbeng was still blissfully sleeping on her side of the bed. Benghui woke up and came to me. “It is so cold. Daddy, I have no fever.” He always says, ” I have no fever” when we touch his forehead and feel his body to check if he has a fever. He then immediately went back to sleep. Mrs Bengbeng woke up disturbed by our voices after that to prepare breakfast for Benghui. The time : 4.45a.m.

I had a guest blogger stay over at my house once. He taught me about the holy scriptures. I have read before in the scriptures that it isn’t possible to come back after we have crossed over into the void. But it was a moving experience for me. If it was a dream, it was a good dream.

I am writing this while the memory is still fresh on my mind so I will have a record or I would have forgotten it by the time the day’s activities make me forget.

Hey, BB… I think scriptures are open to interpretation. Personally, I do believe our loved ones, gone before us, are able to watch over us… for a time. Our time is different than theirs, though, so I couldn’t say how long/short a time it is.

And, actually, if I’m wrong… so what? If it gives you comfort to believe you really talked to your lao pa & lao ma who on this earth has any right to take that away from you?

What you say is cmforting. thanks

I think scientifically it may be easier to explain such phenomenon. Our subconscious mind probably work in such a way that little scraps of info or things in our past surface in our dreams and we live through them, but in scenes which never actually happened. Sometimes we dream of things before they happen and when that incident actually happens we think we are predicting our own future. That’s probably the wonderful workings of the mind. And the things or people we dream about are usually those closest and dearest to us.

As for ghosts, I’d rather not say, ’seeing is believing’… My wife has a friend who speaks with them all the time. And most of those ghosts come from the same little town where they once lived as kids. Some of them she never knew personally, but when she visited the family recently and asked about these deceased relatives they admit there are such persons who died as kids.

I guess you are happy to see your parents again, whether it was a dream or not.
