Mother strangles son and commits suicide
My friends and I have been feeling very subdued today. You could say we are in a state of shock to read of a case in which a mother, Wong Hung Yung strangled her child and then later committed suicide. Perhaps it is because one of my colleagues live near the woman.
But many were moved by the child’s kindergarten’s teacher who commented that David Ting Yu Soon was a good kid and used to greet her every single day. The husband was not at home when she committed the act. The woman had alleged her marriage was on shaky ground and the woman going through a tough patch.
The woman strangled her child before hanging herself from a ceiling fan. Their wrists were cut. What moved Sibu folks was the child, 6 year old David Ting Yu Soon. Perhaps she was afraid to leave him behind just in case he would have a difficult life if she deserted him. Perhaps she was shielding him from the horrors of society as she saw it.
She had displayed the classic suicide symptoms. She had told people she was unhappy. She said she had contemplated death and that if she died, she would take her son with her. Nobody took her seriously.
Looking back it is easy to say in retrospect if this , if that… what could have happened. 
The woman from Marudi has been described as kind and friendly. One week ago, she cut, permed, and dyed her hair. David Ting has been described as as a polite, outgoing and active boy.
It is so sad. So very sad. We grieve of course for the woman who had to kill herself by her own hand but we especially grieve for this innocent child.

Sigh… feel depressed too after reading about this. Here we are with our happy lives, when some people have so much problems that the quickest way to end it is through death. And the poor boy… so young and taken away from this world.
Her display of love for her innocent son in wanting to shield him from the society without her seems cruel to the society. However, it’s also an act of love towards the son from a mother. No mother on earth will want to leave her child under any circumstances. Sad in this case, but reality of life.
Sad stuffs aside, here’s wishing ur Mrs, Benghui and you… Gong Xi Fa Cai & Wan Shi Ru Yi!!
It’s nthg funny to read such reality of life in Sibu and what more to say there is no good man in among the men!!!
