PKR vs DAP and the effects on Sarawak politics
I read with interest PKR vs DAP. After sending Benghui to Sunday school, I went for my regular kampua. The topic of conversation over there was still the PKR vs DAP issue.
The people involved numbered seven. Mainly in the thirties and forties. Venue: coffee-shop 1st floor, Central Market. With the price of everything up and the anticipated inflation after the election, every body literally every body is hot and excited over the elections.
A guy was telling them about the new Anwar, denying 2/3 majority to BN, Keadilan but they were not interested. Funny thing about Sibu people, they find it hard to accept changes easily. As far as the people were concerned, the opposition is the DAP and the DAP is the opposition. Is it because the party is too new here in Sarawak? Or is it because they have yet to earn their stripes?
YB Wong Ho Leng has been seen visiting old folks home, helping out in the flood prone areas etc. One guy said with enormous drama and beating his chest, ” I swear if I am lying, may a bicycle knock me down. Until today I have not met a single PKR member in my life“, and the group broke up into laughter.
:)
Perhaps PKR needs to reach out more to the people here in Sibu. Get to know them. Serve them. Find out the issues which are dear to them.
Apam bali - today Rm2.50. Formerly Rm2.00. An increase of 25%
One guy was quick to point out Rm20 000 000 to upgrade flood-prone major roads Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh, Datuk Robert Lau Hoi Chew and Datuk Tiong Thai King were also there at the CNY gathering at SMK Sacred Heart Centennial Hall. The roads involved are Jalan Pedada, Jalan Ling Kai Cheng, Jalan Stabau, Jalan Sg Maaw, Jalan Sg Assan, Jalan Bawang Assan and Jalan Ding Lik Kong.
I think if an election were held on the spot in the coffee shop and the electorate the 7 people excluding me, SUPP-2 votes, DAP-4 and PKR-1.
