A tale of two voters and the food they eat

Case 1: Early 40s successful businessman.

I will vote for the incumbent this year. He came to visit my area a few days ago. He took a walk and looked around. I don’t know what he did but I noticed this morning the drains had gone down. Of course I will vote for him. I used to vote for the opposition but something needs to be done and for things to be done we need funds only the ruling coalition can provide.

Case 2 : Late 30s engineer

It used to be that I voted for the ruling coalition. I like discipline and I like things to be in order. I prefer predictability to chaos. However events in the past few years have changed my stand. I realized it just yesterday morning.

I was jogging yesterday morning. It then occurred that the dogs would bark ferociously at me as I passed their houses. They cannot do much. They are behind fences and locked gates. ( uses interlocking ten fingers to illustrate his point ) But they are there and I know it. There is still a fear and caution as I jog by those houses with dogs.

It is so too with the government. Any government will need meaningful opposition to be able to function effectively and to prevent excesses. They would then be more aware of the responsibilities they hold. An effective opposition will make an administration more accountable. Even my staff will tend to slack when there is no one looking over their shoulders.

Post and food pics from CNY gathering last night. The salad cream was brought in from Singapore. The cream puff chicken pie was so exceptional that one feels it with the first bite. No other food outlets in Sibu sells this.

The mini ketupat ( glutinous rice wrapped in leaves ) was well made, looked good and tasted even better. Daging rendang was good too but I had only a little as I am watching my diet :( so I didn’t eat much.

The bread thingy I don’t really know what it is. It tasted like ‘unusual’ bread with cinnamon on top? on top or what I don’t know but it was very nice. It is not meant to be loud or overwhelm with taste. I would describe it as ‘refined?’. It didn’t assault the senses but settles nicely in the mouth. Looks can be decieving. I think this particular dish took him quite some time to prepare.

Thanks for all your lovely home-made cooking. It tasted wonderful! An exceptional meal from an exceptional host.

I happen to think along the line of the 2nd voter. I agree with it wholeheartedly. People tend to go slack once they think they are safe and in power. The more seats the opposition party wins, the more the ruling coalition party will be left standing on their tiptoes.

there is a place for every body in a democracy

it is our current govt that caused us to think along the first voter : dont vote for bn no development. but why should it be the case? every one pay tax and rates regardless of location or political choices. this i think is the injustice of bn

Your parent voted this government for fifty years. See what happened now?? The Non-Malay are worst then Indonesian/Malaysian.

What happen to your children’s future if you vote the same government?? How are they going to survive???

    a disturbing thought isn’t it?

“…we need funds only the ruling coalition can provide.”

successful businessman? while he cannot comprehend that the funds come from the tax paying rakyat like him, and all rakyat should reap the benefits regardless of their political inclination? and it is a bit naive to think only the ruling coalition can provide fundings. pftt!

some do think like him :) . i think Cibol did receive a fortune cookie from him
