Overweight, dieting and self image :(

beforeafter

The Chinese new year break has been a great time. I have been enjoying the new year goodies especially keropok with acar and omg how I love cheese cake. I never miss a chance to stuff myself with cheese cake. I didn’t realize how I always make up excuses not to go for exercises or go to the gym.

Until this morning :(

Syt ( sweet young thing ) : Mr Beng, are you sure all this is just for your breakfast? It is more than I eat in a whole day. Everybody practically rushed over to look at the damning evidence on my desk since she had lowered her tone into a teasing conspiratorial whisper. I bet every body was craning their ears and maybe their eyes as she was wearing her silver and gold high heels again today. Some say if legs are the definition of beauty, she is an international beauty queen :)

bteakfast kampua noodles

I began eating this kampua prepared by Mrs BB to avoid their curious stares. Suddenly every body looked at me in horror. Perhaps Am I eating too much? What do you think? I still weigh an uncomfortable 73 kg from my 68 kg three months ago. I will definitely need to go to the gym more. The thing is I always eat a hearty breakfast, light lunch and most times avoid dinner. So I eat a lot in the morning.

Except for a few banners here and there, there seems to be no election fever happening here in Sibu.

Actually, you’re doing it right. The proportions we eat should be an upside down triangle. So if you’ve been eating the most at breakfast and then tapering down, you should be okay. It’s only WHAT you’re eating that you need to focus on. Remember, white is evil…white rice, white bread, white sugar, white noodles. Empty calories….
    Good luck!

thanks :) i will keep that in mind.

Yes what Jaq said is true. Watch what kind of food you eat. Take more fruits! If you’re lazy to go to gym, just run around your house compound. I do that. Save money. :P

my house compound? i dont live in a palace :)

    Bengbeng,

I have similar problem as you..although my weight is lower than yours, hehehe. I think the greatest problem is eating a lot and no exercise.

I should really resume going to the gym…

    i resumed on Sunday..and i went again today :)

Weight does not equal to good health!

I heard that a person who exercises daily can also get a heart attack… :/

Also studies shown that people who are picky with food and/or vegetarian have higher chances of gettin’ cancer… :/

Just don’t eat excessively, keep a balance diet is good enough.

I think we all owe it to ourselves to get a medical check up regularly so we know our baseline, and thus are able to monitor our own health. After all, we’re responsible for ourselves.
While it is true that “a person who exercises daily can also get a heart attack”….unless one already has a pre-existing heart condition (normally undiagnosed and asymptomatic) it’s rare that a sudden heart attack occurs for the regular exerciser.

Also if you read up on cancer and its causes, you’ll find that food is only one factor, the other big contributory factor is lifestyle and stress…be it mentally, emotionally or physically. Latest studies have also shown that chronic lack of sleep contributes greatly to chances of inferior cell reproduction leading to cell mutation leading to increased risks of cancer.

It’s important what we put into our mouths nonetheless.

i fail on most counts the fators u mention :(

i do exercise weight lifting n brisk walking on tread mill but i eat lots of stuff n sleep sparingly

    @jaq
I fully agree. Also take note that there are many intangible factors that statistical analyses in science much too often fail to give a true account. ;)
