After doing last minute marketing for the reunion dinner, I was ’seen’ by friends who insisted I join them for their kopitiam talk. Sibu gossip you could call it.

They were in the midst of a heated discussion and Chung Tung was obviously angry at a post in The Borneo Post.

Bengbeng: Why do you get heated up about this matter? It doesn’t make an iota of difference to the political equation. We are all just Mr/Ms Nobody. Zero. Zilch. Period. We cannot make a difference.

For this week, I highlight a jungle frond given to me by a friend. Apparently it had fallen from a tree after a strong wind. He threw it away and I saw it by his dustbin. I asked for it on Friday and he gave it to me. To be frank, his expression shows that he thinks I am nuts to carry this ‘rubbish’ home.

On the contrary I have been looking for this plant a long time already. At first I put it above the aquarium but it dirtied the water so in the end I put it on my table. The reason I do that is my dog is crazy enough to want to tear the plant into shreds.

What happens when workers in a supermarket are too many and customers too numerous? Things get a little out of control. What happens when workers get thirsty and have no time to go out to drink? Take drinks and put the empty containers back into the cartons. No evidence. The customers haul away the evidence. The workers save money and the management is no wiser. Most customers won’t complain and blame the kids.

Bamboos are long and narrow and extremely versatile. They can be used to make anything under the sun and are extremely versatile.

This is a coconut leaf. Notice that every individual leaf is very long and narrow. Hence it has lots of potential for weaving purposes. In this particular case it is being shaped into a decorative traditional fighting shield
