Sibu Foochow dinner for seven

chinese foochow boy

Oh my! I have been eating so much for every meal that I believe the day won’t be far before I explode like a goldfish which has eaten too much :) There is not much mood to blog as every thought is on food. Glorious Sibu Foochow food.

midin

There have been queries on midin. This is midin. It is native to Sarawak, I believe. It is a kind of wild jungle fern.

midin with belacan and cili

I love it cooked like this. With belacan and cili. With this dish alone, I can finish a plate of rice! It was also the most sought after dish on the dinner table.

foochow dinner

These are the dishes I ordered for dinner:
chicken with mayonnaise, fish fillet, vegetables with eggs, chicken dipped in sauce, prawns in batter, taufu and midin. (I don’t know how to translate these Foochow names so I just use simple English. I am not wrong probably, except when I use simple English, it loses a little of the glamor :) )

Total cost including drinks :) slightly over RM100.00 including one carrot juice, one Pepsi cola and five Chinese tea. Anybody wants to invite me over for dinner? :)

nikon D80

When the biggest camera is in action, every body else is a bit reluctant to dish out their cameras. If I had some money I would ask joshua to help me buy one. I feel a little humbled. I will work hard and with adsense, perhaps one day in the next five years I will be able to afford one :) And why is it Cantonese is always spoken so loud? Perhaps if the Cantonese dialect was kept under wraps, I could have bargained for a cheaper price hahahahahaha

midin is quite good. I have seen it in the U.S. (San Francisco), and I would guess you can also find it in Seattle and Vancouver.

I think anything cooked with belachan and chili will taste delicious. midin looks like asparagus, midin is the minature size ferns instead of the large monsters which they call asparagus in UK. Asparagus is young fern with the tips still folded up. They will come into season at spring.

i am not quite sure what asparagus is :)

Sure, u must tell me when u want to buy. Plenty of choices new or 2nd hand. And I know a lot of buddies who are photographers - who wants to upgrade. Its not too expensive these days.

thanks. will take u on this some time
