Chinese cuisine Sibu, Sarawak style

I remember once reading somewhere that a blogger isn’t really a blogger if he just posts on food and the food he eats :) . This is what I am doing. For the simple reason my life has been taken over by my guests and I have to take care of their dietary needs. It seems my whole life is now upside down with Benghui’s tuition classes and my guests needs. :) But still I wouldn’t have it any other way. It is always great to be with good company and who share my love for surfing and blogging.

Food is all-important to hungry stomachs. It was flooded in certain parts of town today so I canceled a visit to a friend of mine. My friends are all on a food hunt anyway.

Today it was Mrs Bengbeng who ordered the dishes. The guests were too polite to object. I preferred crabs, prawns and fish but Mrs Bengbeng hates getting her hands dirty. So we ended up with safe neutral dishes.

1. mixed vegetables
2. sweet and sour fish fillet
3. sea cucumber soup
4. hot plate Japanese taufu
5. chicken in lemon sauce

The guests were polite but I assume they must be a little disappointed as everything was devoid of chilli or spices.

Total bill Rm86.80 including fruit juices, one fresh coconut and some Chinese tea. This is all the writing I can do today . I haven’t replied any comments either :) I just want to put my legs up somewhere, close my eyes and shut my eyes for a few minutes. Perhaps when my guests have gone home, I will have more free time.

My friends seem to be interested by all these steel flowers. All my neighbors have one. I don’t have one because I worry Benghui will lose all interest in study and be glued to the tv.

Of course everybody seems to care about the latest developments in Perak and the menteri besar issue etc but the pressing issue is to make everybody’s stomach filled that they may have fine memories of Sibu.

In the meantime, my sincere apologies to those I owe replies to. This will have to do as my post for today :( I will try to sleep early tonight to get my much needed rest :) .

I think Mrs Bengbeng’s dishes are nice for a change with lots of plain rice. I was looking out for this ’steel’ flower looking for some colourful thing! :)

I know how you feel trying to fit too many things in a day. Bengbeng, sorry to tell you this, but it is also a sign of old age when one tires easily when routine is broken. :P

I used to be Ah Chek. Now I am Ah Pek :)
