Scenes by the river-weekend snapshot

WS2

Today the weather was fine. So I took my family out for some fresh air.

river pier

I observed this unusual phenomenon. It looks like the boats and river vessels are on the same level as the road or even higher. Actually they aren’t but it is an optical illusion. However if the water goes a little higher, it will overflow onto the streets.

river viewriver boats

These two pics are more of the same illusion.

river side village

These houses are built on stilts and are also on my blog’s header. Notice that the level of the river is quite close to the houses now.

river walk

However Sibu people are used to the water level being a little high. This family for example same as mine is enjoying a stroll by the river.

river fishing

To this man, it is an opportunity to catch up on some fishing. He really knows how to enjoy life. I wish I could too but I always seem to be busy doing nothing :) The case would be different if I could invite a friend to go fishing with me. Then he would entertain me with tall fishermen tales. I would bribe him with lovely fish dishes I would cook with the fish we catch. :) While fishing we could watch the world go by :)

Maybe you should sit beside the old man and go fishing together. Seems to me there are tall fisherman tales he could share with you. :)

First time to your blog via WS :)
I could not see it as a optical illusion! OMG!

normally the boat is far lower but in this case the water level makes it almost the same level as the road
