I have been so busy today you wouldn’t believe it. So when I was invited for a night out with the guys I was reluctant but it is never wise to turn down a social invitation. It isn’t polite. I ended up having two 8-course dinners in a row. The first one was at Kingwood Hotel and the next at Tanahmas Hotel.

malaysian astronaut

Imagine my surprise to meet Malaysia’s own astronaut, Sheikh Mustapha Shukor Al-Masrie. He is such a nice guy you wouldn’t believe it. I took a few pics with him but the pic of ugly me standing next to such a handsome guy, well the contrast is too great :) , I think I better keep it in my personal archives.

sheikh mustapha shukor al masrtie

He was really a nice guy and had the Sibu folks eating out of his hand. He signed autographs, smiled and said all the right things.

sheikh mustapha

You could say, he came, he saw and he conquered. By the end of the evening, I believe everyone would remember the day they met Malaysia’s own astronaut. At least I had a brush with a celebrity. He is really so nice in person.

reaching for the stars

I bought his book, Reaching for the Stars. He personally autographed the book. It is truly inspirational and packed with emotional power.

After that I had to rush for another dinner. When I came home, Benghui asked me why my tummy was so big. What could I say? ;)

Have a great weekend every body. :)

Do you know how much we spent on this guy ?

A good question. A very good question.

    he’s not an astronaut…

that is very open to interpretation :)

It is nice to talk big, as if we have our own astronaut. When we complain that he is not an astronaut, we will be condemned for being disloyal to the country. When we say that he is an astronaut, we know that we lie through our teeth. The amount of money spent? Hmmm, won’t allow that good question to be asked. If Bengbeng answers it here, Bengbeng will be labelled non-patriotic. Dr SMS is readying himself to be another of those UMNO politicians. Bet that many will think that let him stand anywhere and he will win pants down? Many years ago, Malaysians worshipped Su Chin Onn, the footballer. His first combat in politics was with Lim Guan Eng, and guess who ended up in the mud. Celebrity cannot jumble with politics. It is a different ball game.

He is so young and what does a brief sojourn in space got to do with being a politician? i think the next step would be Mollywood in some movie and perhaps in the entertainment business :)

I agree Celebrity cannot jumble with politics. It is a different ball game.

Did a certain organization asked him to do it or what? I can’t imagine myself getting selected for some programme and having to commit myself to give talks and attend events in the months that follow. (Of cos lah, won’t even get selected in the first place ma…). No, but really.

I guess I will never be an astronaut too :)
