My Longkang

One day after I shifted my Taiwan red parrot fish inside the house, they seem so happy already. They are not so timid too. As you can see they are happily swimming even with me taking a video of them. I was considering putting a decorative concrete centre-piece for them to play with for example : a tree trunk or some concrete structure but when I went to ask, the price was too expensive.

I settled for some bricks from my garden. It worked. They are happily swimming in between and around the bricks. I just might buy another six more red parrots. Money…money………money … nothing in life is free except true love?

It is so soothing just sitting and watching life pass them by. I just need to feed them a few granules of fish food a day. There is such a marked contrast to the time when the aquarium was greenish with algae and the fish lethargic.

Benghui : Daddy, teacher gave me two eggs. They are already cooked. It is because it is Easter. Yippee.

Benghui : I don’t know. Teacher prepare a lot of food but I didn’t eat. It is too spicy. Teacher show us a video of Jesus.

Honestly I really don’t know the meaning of Easter Day although I have seen the movie The Passion of Christ. What does Easter mean to you personally? Some say faith comes with age and experience. They say faith will overcome all ignorance and obstacles.

On this day, I check myself and realize there is so much I still don’t know and have yet to learn ( Perhaps this is just an excuse but I have always had a skeptical mind even as a child ). It is particularly difficult for me as I discovered the faith at such a late stage in my life. When I read other Sibu based blogs like Tony Hii’s and Yan’s corner : I am amazed and yet highly appreciative of how faith is actually a part of their every day lives. For me it is compartmentalized just like everything else in my life.

Ah, if I could have a simple faith and be less questioning. Some readers may attack this article but it is basically how I feel. I want to experience a real faith too but it is difficult to walk the talk or live the faith. I however will not give up hope and will struggle to lead a life closer to God. I must not fail. I will have to succeed if I want to be an example for Benghui to follow.

But perhaps if I ponder on this post here I might know the real meaning of Easter.

I have been so busy today you wouldn’t believe it. So when I was invited for a night out with the guys I was reluctant but it is never wise to turn down a social invitation. It isn’t polite. I ended up having two 8-course dinners in a row. The first one was at Kingwood Hotel and the next at Tanahmas Hotel.

Thank you all for your helpful suggestions. I implemented most of the suggestions and it seems to be working. I moved the aquarium indoors and the algae seems to have disappeared. I have a light now but as to whether is it a UV light or not, I cannot be sure. I recycled it from some old thing I had in the house.

I might put in some underwater plants to absorb excess nutrients from the water but for the time being, I let the eco-system settle down first.

Notice that the fish seem to be very timid . Perhaps it is just a trait of their species or perhaps I have changed too much water. I had to remove the water as to carry the aquarium with a full load of water from my lawn to the indoors would take a lot of effort. I left about 30% of the water inside a pail.

Notice however two of the fish seem to get along well and seem to be kissing each other all the time. (Not apparent in video). The other fish is always alone and at the opposite end of the other two. It just goes to prove that not only human beings lead a sad and lonely life

For this week I showcase this piece of metal. It is junk. It was a bicycle and also my son’s most prized possession. When a intruder came to my house, it was the first thing he checked. To see if it had been stolen. It has no seat and is barely serviceable.

He can spend hours on this bicycle. Why don’t I buy him a new bicycle? He is not ready. I am afraid if he has a new bicycle, he may expose himself to danger by cycling on the roads. Am I a horrible father? I guess I am but I am not ready to face the risk of something happening to him on the road.

An overseas friend sent me this video link. I had no idea of this interview at all. It is interesting in the sense I got to hear from the mouths of DSAI and Lim Kit Siang personally their views and their thoughts. I am so used to a voice in the background making brief comments while the camera makes a brief scan of the venue of the event with fleeting glimpses of these personalities on the national media.

Whatever your political inclination, it is still relevant to us to know what the movers and shakers of this nation are thinking.

This is my aquarium. No matter how often I change the water, this is the result. It was ok initially but this is the present state.

I bought a new water filter to replace my old one.

It is quite powerful. The water is now a little bit cleaner but the green color persists. Can some body out there please advise? There is no sand or anything that makes the water murky. The fish are growing well and the water seems cool.

By the way, I rear Taiwanese Red Parrot fish. Any advise is most welcome. Thank you.
