Today the weather was fine. So I took my family out for some fresh air.
I observed this unusual phenomenon. It looks like the boats and river vessels are on the same level as the road or even higher. Actually they aren’t but it is an optical illusion. However if the water goes a little higher, it will overflow onto the streets.

The Borneo Post 16th March 2008 edition
Like many others I was watching the water level of the Batang Rejang nervously yesterday. I was particularly nervous as I had to pass through Jalan Lanang. Also my blogger friends were waiting for me at Ruby Cafe. Btw it is definitely worth a visit with reasonable prices and it is very clean. The recommended dishes are prawns in butter and pandan chicken.
The flood took me by surprise as the water level rose so fast. Most badly affected areas were Jalan Lanang, Jalan Tan Sri, Jalan Khoo Peng Loong and the town centre. Jalan Tekam and Jalan Selanggan too were not spared. Residents from Jalan Hua Kiew to Jalan Kapor and beyond were similarly worried lest a repeat of the December 2007 floods occur.
This morning, the water level in the drains had gone down to almost normal.
The Sarawak Meteorological Department in Kuching confirmed that high tide began since Wednesday and would stay for a week until March 26.
I have asked my friends what they will remember most about Sibu. Sibu food and Sibu floods. Today the water was quite high and flowing into the drains of my house. It used to happen every ten years or so but now it happens almost every couple of months.

This week’s theme is ‘I spy’. At first I had no entry until I saw this little girl on my sofa. She is barely two years old and she is a guest in my home. She didn’t cry or anything. She just looked at us from behind the soft toy. It is like she is thinking. ‘I spy’ first this home and these people before I get into any pranks 
She is a charming little girl. But she is still spying on everything that’s going on around her. The soft toy her little security blanket.
She is probably afraid of Benghui my son who is a little boisterous and Oopi my dog. Maybe in a day or two, she will drop her ‘I spy’ stance
She is incredibly intelligent. She will sing and dance when she thinks no one is looking at her. She is a professional when it comes to taking pics. Just like any celebrity : she avoids the camera. Perhaps it is a bad hair day At rare moments when she smiles, it is like a ray of sunshine.

I remember once reading somewhere that a blogger isn’t really a blogger if he just posts on food and the food he eats . This is what I am doing. For the simple reason my life has been taken over by my guests and I have to take care of their dietary needs. It seems my whole life is now upside down with Benghui’s tuition classes and my guests needs. But still I wouldn’t have it any other way. It is always great to be with good company and who share my love for surfing and blogging.
