Marketing, inflation and feeling blessed
I learned a lesson tonight. I went to the Everwin Supermarket. I saw a lot of people waiting in small groups. I asked a lady there, ” What are you all doing?” She then told me they were waiting for the arrival of the vegetables. Soon a lorry arrived and very soon there was a large crowd busy buying vegetables.
“Kuat murah” ( very cheap ) was one comment I heard. The prices are indeed cheaper than the regular market I frequent. It is convenient to do the marketing here and the vegetables are very fresh. If things go on at this rate, soon the regular small-timers who sell in the market will find their business affected.
I bought a lot of vegetables for Rm16.80. The lesson I learned? Mrs Bengbeng told me that as long as we stick together and spend prudently we will get through this era of inflation some how. She told we are already blessed with what we already have…a loving family, a home, good health and stable jobs. You know what? She is right.
I am so glad she reminded me.
Every day that passes by is already a blessing and we should give thanks for no major upsets to our lives. We however decided not to buy any processed food-stuff like canned food as the prices are higher than usual. We just have to take the trouble to cook and eat less outside :), and tighten our belts a little.
Recently we saw some rice sold at affordable prices and bought some. It means we have actually saved money. How do we keep the rice fresh? We put some huan cheng kuah or dried chillies in the rice bags. In this way, the insects won’t come and attack the rice.
Something to cheer us all up

vege vege…
i don like vege….
Mrs Teh is the sifu of prudence. We never waste any food. Leftover rice or other foodstuff if kept in the fridge can still be eaten tomorrow. And we even recycle bath water for washing toilet, washing machine water for mopping floors. And use and reuse all plastic bags a few times before using them (again) for throwing rubbish. It’s become a lifestyle for us.
we do some of that stuff…we will do even more in the future
Yeah! The testing time is back! Inflation and global increase in price really put a strain on us. So we really have to take a rope and tie around our waist (ikat perut) to save a few riggit lor. =)
we jus have to grin n bear it
I’m very sad that daily item are keep on increasing. And we always know that price rarely will reduce after hike. All these price hike, are they really necessary or just for the sake of earning more bulks?
This is something we left for our future kids. In the future, our descendants will have to pay for high price just for a bowl of kampua.
it is already happening
Ahem! May I know where is Everwin supermarket? Maybe I can give it a try. Lately, have been really feeling the pinch. As I said to hubby, RM50.00 out and you don’t see anything coming back. Even gave my kids a severe lecture on the value of money just this morning. Sigh.. hopefully these financially bleak days will be over soon.
it is just in front of the new outstation bus terminal. jus great for those who would like to save on expenses when it comes to vege n such stuff. the new stuff usually arrives at 730 pm thereabouts
if we all learn to use less it will not only save us money but the environment will thank you too
a better world for every body
my house put garlic to keep away the inserts.
