Today I woke up feeling so pampered when Benghui woke me up with the daily newspapers. Hey, I could get used to this life of pampering. He then proceeded to bring me a packet of chocolate milk. Mummy was busy somewhere in the house. Any way I am not used to being pampered. Believe me, it is wonderful ( smug smile ) Read more »
Being a weekend, I decided not to eat out but to cook Chinese herbal chicken soup today. It turned out quite well and very easy to cook. The secret: ? Read more »
This is a shoot of a fern. It is just budding and twisted. I love ferns like this for decorating the garden. This is the second one I got. I spied upon it near a pig farm this week. It was up there on a tree just waiting for me and perfectly formed. I asked for permission and the owner was more than glad to oblige. We know each other for a few years already. He promised me two more next week. I am so happy.
This is how the jungle fern looks like from a non close-up view.
Another entry would be this experiment of mine : my dragon fruit. It is so twisted and stunted in its growth. It just doesn’t grow well in my garden no matter how much fertilizer I give it. Perhaps I might transfer it to another spot and just hope for the best?
This is not relevant to the post. I noticed this weed while looking for pics for stunted in my garden. These weeds sprouted flowers that look like peeled orange skins. Isn’t it cool? Normally I would throw this weed away so I never saw the flower until today.
KwangErn is being too kind to tag me… *cough*cough*
Anyways, so here goes…
Things I’m passionate about:
What is passion? Can I sell it? Can I buy it? cough cough **. I think I lost it long time ago…heh heh.
Things I’d Like To Do Before I Die
* Climb Mount Everest, not necessarily to the very top..
* Host Benghui’s wedding reception
* Celebrate 50th anniversary with my wife
* Croak before I get seriously ill.
None. My reading is almost exclusively online nowadays. Online I read the BBC, Reader’s Digest and Malaysiakini.
But some time ago a friend insisted I read a book called Fruits of Karna by Sudassa Onkom. In it he says that all sentient beings are dependent on their own Karma. It is not my usual read but I wont offend any body.
Songs I Could Listen To Over and Over
Hm, my music taste spins over the years…And I don’t really have any favourites. As a teenager I strummed the guitar, thought it cool to be playing at picnics etc but those days are over. My house sadly is nowadays quite devoid of music. Any music if there is happens to be incidental rather than planned.
Benghui goes to piano lesson once a week as a recreation rather than anything. So I have listed the songs I heard yesterday which I still remember meaning that I do like them to a certain extent. I usually listen to the music while I am driving and unable to do other tasks.
* Josh Groban - You raise me up
* Air Supply - Making love out of nothing at all
* Kenny Rogers and Sheena Easton - We’ve got tonight
* Dionne Warwick- Heartbreaker
* Michael Bolton: When a man loves a woman
I do listen to Mandarin and Hockien songs but my computer can’t write Chinese and neither can I so I can’t list them out.
Traits I’m attracted to In My Friends
Traits? Well, I like people who don’t complicate life and don’t carry their emotional garbage with them wherever they go and easy on my ear A better term might be : easy going?
I met a lady today. She was neatly dressed in an excessively worn-out dress which had seen better days.She was on a bicycle which was very rusted. Slung across her handle bar was a red transparent plastic bag with aluminum cans. She collects them for a living. Read more »
I just couldn’t resist buying this 10kg bag of rice. It was on offer for Rm25.30 at Everwin Supermarket. Every little sen counts nowadays as the ringgit is shrinking. I went shopping today. Mrs Bengbeng is far too tired. I have been a little more tired as usual as I have to carry some of the slack. Read more »
Try looking out for this movie.It is all about ping-pong one of my fav sports. I haven’t seen it myself and I am looking for it. Flyfisher is the one who first introduced the movie title to me.
No man is an island. Or maybe a better phrase is few men live like they are individual islands. We are all part of society and we need to blend in to survive. Some people do this extremely well and are popular in every gathering. It is a little easier when one is already a member of a particular group e.g. NGOs, clubs, clan associations etc or simply just a group of friends. Read more »
Many of us are not aware that the petrol kiosk pump has a return pipe-line(in black ). When the petrol tank (in the car) reaches full level, there is a mechanism to trigger off the pump latch and at the same time a return-valve is opened (at the top of the pump station) to allow excess petrol to flow back into the pump. But the return petrol has already pass through the meter, meaning you are donating the petrol back to SHELL/PETRONAS/ CALTEX/MOBIL……….
Update: Clarification from Shell. I extend my apologies to all parties concerned for the error in this post.
