To my blogger friends and readers

I have blogged for about 17 months now. I have received good comments. I have also received bad comments :) Even cruel comments. I have been ridiculed. Some people even threw cold water at my efforts to learn blogging. I have received threats too but nothing too serious fortunately. Basically I believe it is my style of writing. I take it as part of my journey in blogging. Even my blogging personality has changed as I have changed in the past few months.

Mylongkang’s original aim was quite high being to make a difference in other people’s lives. But in retrospect it was way too ambitious :) Obviously in blogging occasionally I have inadvertently stepped on some toes. I have learned a few lessons along the way. If you are one of them I have accidentally hurt, I make my humble apologies.

It has been a rewarding 17 months. I have my own mouth piece and I have made many friends. I even found God through the net thanks to some blogger friends. That to me is my biggest reward. Thank you all for your support. Mylongkang.com too has changed along the way, maturing as it blundered along. Mylongkang.com does receive some search queries but most of my traffic is from regular visitors who favorite my page and come visit on a regular basis. I am honored to receive their visits from all over the world. Thank you very much.

I had to learn photography, editing skills, uploading videos etc from scratch. Prior to my blogging, I didn’t even go surfing :) . For those of you who know me personally, you know I don’t even know how to utilize my mobile phone fully. Put me in my garden and I will know how to do something but with high tech stuff I am totally hopeless. Even my printer is out of ink because I had some problems in replacing the ink.

Looking back I have written some good posts and obviously some fillers along the way. It is not easy to find something to blog every single day. But this blog is a record of my journey through life so I have somehow managed to survive until this day. However recent events have made my time even more precious now and the situation is unlikely to change in the near future.

I have yet to find the time to go pay my credit card bills Rm5000 plus this month nor any of my other bills including my income tax payment. Time is suddenly very precious. I have to be on call 24 hours a day in case of a family emergency. It is also a busy time at the office.

Maybe it is just a temporary thingy being so busy running around the past few days but I do feel discouraged sometimes. I ask myself sometimes why I blog. After all my blog is a very personal blog. It is not an impersonal website talking about specific matters like for example investments, politics etc. Some one even commented that my blog is rojak or a melting pot of whatever flits through my emotional being at any given time. Tantamount to selling myself :) for the meagre googe adsense.

I have come to a decision I will continue to blog irrespective of what others have to say. It is after all my personal blog and readers are welcome to accompany me as I plod on in this blogging world. I am by no means totally discouraged although I have to make time for it. I just hope you will bear with me the mistakes I make along the way. For me the rewards far outweigh the cons.

I had been seriously considering whether I should close down this blog for a few days already. I have decided I will continue to blog until I decide I want to blog no more irrespective of what others have to say and even if I am the only reader :)

Regards :

Bengbeng

  3. frostier says:

Blogging is just a part of a lifestyle. If u used to it, it will be part of u.

But remember, there are millions of blogs everyday. So,if you quit or not it does not make any significant.

Yet, you have ur own circle and hence it matters to them and that is all you need to know.

  4. lilian says:

Please use it as your personal ranting space and you will enjoy it more.

I just discovered that my parish priest reads my blog. OMG LOL. But it is like a burden off my shoulder, now that I am able to write what I think and not held back by the fear of ‘what ppl think’.

    keep up the good blog.

  8. pablopabla says:

Continue blogging to express yourself. It’s therapeutic in some ways. Just make sure that you have a balanced lifestyle and get your priorities in order. Once you get that right, you will enjoy blogging even more :D

  9. Cheeky Bear says:

Please do not stop blogging. It is boring enough at times during off-peak periods that I’m squashing mosquitoes to kill time; your blogs are what keeps me on my feet. To quote what a friend once told me,”Want to say bad, say lah. At least I know there are people thinking of me!” LOL so bad comments, good comments, threats, means you’re a blog star!
    Take care!

  10. Adino says:

Just continue writing and be yourself. Take whatever criticism in a positive light, and just ignore those who are just trying to get under your skin.

    Please don’t stop blogging.

  11. tigerfish says:

I’m quite new to your blog but I enjoy reading your posts because they are humorous most of the times and I like it. :)

  12. Che-Cheh says:

Please don’t quit. I enjoy reading your blog as it is very different from the usual rest. Keep up the good work.

This is your blog and you own it. You can write whatever you want.

  13. Choonie says:

Your blog is one of the few that I frequent. It is a must to check out your blog because of the frequent update. I have a lot to learn from you. Keep up your good work.

  14. bongkersz says:

please continue to write, whatever people think of what you write is secondary. it is tough to write things if we need to consider what every single person out there will feel after reading it. keep it going!

  15. Jeff says:

BB.. you have made a difference in the world and it would not be the same without you. Like I’ve said before, you inspire me to create a blog for myself, however my very first blog post was on your site as I recall:-)
Your blog is a window into your world and is very different from mine… and that for me, what makes it interesting. I love reading about Sibu, I hope to visit there one day.
Sorry to hear some people leaving nasty or cruel comments on your blog.. I guess it happens sometimes. Keep on blogging.

  16. hongkiat says:

It’s really hard to find people keeping up to the blogging consistency these days :-)

I was “away” for few day from blog world.

Well, i must say i’m shocked reading this post. I wonder what make u come to this point. Maybe I should read all your 17months blog post. hahaha…

Anyway, I like your blog. It has personal touch. Your stories let the readers into the world you are living and experiencing.

Blog is just part of normal life. It is like a way to talk, only that this is through text and picture over the net. Behind this blog is a person, and that person is you. So don’t give up blog.

I have decided not to stop blogging for the time being at least :)

  21. Josh says:

    My friend, you sound daunted.

I want to encourage u to watch Dead Poet’s Society if you had not the chance or encouragement to.

One of the sayings in that film from Keatings (played by Robin Williams) is this:
“Now we all have a great need for acceptance, but you must trust that your beliefs are unique, your own, even though others may think them odd or unpopular. Even though the heard may go ” That’s bad.” Robert Frost said, ” Two roads diverged in a yellow wood and I, I took the one less travelled by, and that has made all the difference.” I want you to find your own walk right now, your own way of striding, pacing: any direction, anything you want. Whether it’s proud or silly. Anything. Gentlemen, the courtyard is yours. You don’t have to perform. Just make it for yourself.”

Beng, “the courtyard is your blog. You dont have to perform. Just make it for yourself.”

Another thing: “No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world.”

I subscribe to that. And therefore I write. Because with words we change the world. With words we think, we reason and we weave a new world for our readers. We open new windows. New horizons afar.

Blogging is writing. A blogger is a writer. Of that we are World changers.

What has the naysayers done? What tell me has any critics, cynics ever accomplished? Every new inventions, new book, new found hope came from dreamers.

Dream on. Write on. Blog on.

i can’t agree more with aunty lilian :) i too treat it as my personal ranting place. and i have never felt any better especially after i have had expressed myself on my blog. besides that, i had had my equal share of bad comments and even death threats -_-” but that never stopped me from writing :P

i have been reading your entries and the true stories you have written are really an eye opener to me. and i believe you should carry on expressing your opinions on this blog :)

  23. Lynn says:

I do enjoy reading your blog even if I come here mostly during photo hunts and weekend snapshots. But I do read and browse on your entries whenever I am here. I find them really candid that’s why I enjoy reading them though I don’t post my comments sometimes. I just lurk. I find it sad if there are bloggers I visit regularly which suddenly decide to just stop blogging for whatever reasons. Good thing you won’t close shop. :) Anyway, keep on posting. God bless!

  24. mumsgather says:

I agree with pablopabla. As for the comment that your blog is rojak, I think that most personal blogs are rojak. Anything goes. Its about what we observe as life moves along. Its what makes a blog interesting. If we were to blog about only one thing all the time, it would be very boring don’t you think?

  25. mar says:

    Good to know you’re not stopping… :)
Happy Mother’s Day to Mrs BB!!!

    Thanks Marg

  26. Philip Hii says:

Beng2, you have to continue. We cannot afford losing you as one of the most prominent Sibu’s Bloggers.
