Tropical fish food, personal tuition and sleepy head

fish food

It is Friday night and I am so glad. A time to rest. What’s been happening in my life? I was back late because of work commitments and Benghui worried my red parrots would starve. He fed them half a cup of fish food. Normally I feed them half a tea spoonful. Luckily I came home in time. Otherwise my fish might have died :( The water was red in color. :)

He also watered my plants and nothing can go wrong there fortunately. My hot-water heater switch also burned out. I don’t know why. I detected a burning smell and located the source. It has nothing to do with Benghui I am sure but it reinforces my opinion a kid should not be left unattended in the home.

Benghui reading or sleeping..your guess is as good as mine :)

Spent the whole evening teaching him his lessons and preparing him for his exams. I am so glad he has the mood for study… I think. I also took him to his piano lessons. The teacher was so surprised. She thought Benghui had already stopped. I didn’t feel in the mood to explain that circumstances have been a bit different recently because of ongoing family concerns.

Bengsim my sister has told me to stop all his favorite activities like Sunday school, wushu, piano, computer classes etc. The reason being that as a kid he needs time for rest. She pointed out that we turned out well although we didn’t attend all these enrichment activities. Benghui was horrified when I asked his opinion.

However I have cut down on his tuition classes as domestic arrangement recently don’t allow for all these activities without us being around to ferry him around. It might be a blessing in disguise though. He seems to study well under us. But I seriously wonder when I will lose my patience teaching him.

It is not easy to be a parent and to be his tuition teacher too. But so far so good. Bengsim has been telling me to go abroad for a holiday. How do I explain to her my finances will not allow me to spend frivolously on oversea travels. Her rationale is that as one grows older soon the chances will diminish as one’s health suffers.

portugal

She was traveling to Lisbon and on a long haul flight she collapsed on the flight while walking up the aisle to the wc. She now blames it on the airline food. She is still walking with a limp. Apparently the slim and beautiful air stewardess couldn’t lift her so they had to get another man to help lift her up.

Hi, BB..lucky yr fishes are not dead…you can show BengHui how much food to put in and next time he will get it right…
When my boys were young..I do not burden them with too much tuition…I just plan out a time table and teach them what they do not understand…buy some workbooks to go thru with them is so much easier them ferrying them to the tuition centre most of the days….
Let children learn at their own pace….
Teach them how to read the newspaper….starting with the big and bold letters first and what interest them most…and that will improve their languages besides getting them to read on their own in a few years time…
Hope this will helps…I’m talking from parenting experience…
