Frog steamboat
It has been very hot today. No matter what I do, the heat just seems to undermine every activity I do. Perhaps it is due to the sun or the food I ate. Even after sweating buckets doing the Bollywood aerobics with original Bollywood music and a session at the sauna, I just can’t cool down. Feeling feverish. Perhaps the food I had at lunch was too rich.
The food I had for lunch was a bit unusual. As I was a guest, I just ate whatever was offered. This deep fried squid balls were superb. It is easy. Just deep fry them and eat with chilly sauce or mayonaise.
I waited half an hour for the steam boat to cook. It smelt lovely too and definitely looked inviting. They cooked it with tang-hoon or vermicelli is the word I think? I remarked that the soup was delicious and exceptionally sweet.
Then, they bought out the secret ingredient. It is frogs. They put in lots of frogs for the soup. The frogs were caught at the timber camps and generally not available at the market place. One look at the secret ingredient, I lost all appetite. But every body else seemed to be enjoying the frogs with relish
Perhaps it is an acquired taste.
On the other hand, if I were to eat it not knowing it was frog meat, I might have enjoyed it too. ![]()
