Popular Book Store, Chinese Chess and shopping in Delta Mall, Sibu

dinner plate

Benghui has been studying very hard. Normally he scores poorly in Moral Studies and Mandarin as both are in Mandarin but this time, he has improved. I had to fulfill my promise of taking him to Kentucky Fried Chicken at Delta Mall, Sibu. I thought I saw a prominent Sibu blogger at a mobile phone shop but she was busy so I didn’t want to interfere with her and her customer. Customer = money :). Benghui finished this whole dinner plate. It could be because he worked so hard for it.

popular book store

Mrs Bengbeng and Benghui went wild at newly opened Popular Book Store. There was such a wide choice of books. To be eligible for a discount, I had to become a member. It costs Rm12.00 a year or Rm25.00 for three years. I consoled myself I would save money in the long run :(

Benghui went gaga when he saw so many books and mechanical pencils for sale. I would be a lousy daddy if I didn’t buy him the work books he wanted. Unfortunately he only wanted the Maths, English, Science and Malay work books. I had to force him to choose some Chinese books too :) or I wouldn’t buy any books at all.

It is amazing how thoughts of economizing flies out the window when confronted with crowds of shoppers and brightly lit shops. However I saw most people were just window shopping.

bath sponge

This is another item I bought. it costs only Rm1.99. It is particularly useful for the elderly who do not have the flexibilty to reach hard to reach areas while taking a shower. It is money well spent as a gift.

I have really pampered Benghui. Mrs Bengbeng scolded me for it but he wanted it very much. He said he would pay with his own money if we gave him permission to buy him a Chinese Chess set. Rm1.99. It was sold in a store called Super Savers :) I think. What a suitable name :) . They sold lots of lower quality products at affordable prices.

As for Mrs Bengbeng she fell in love with a two door refrigerator. But I suggested we go home and think about it first. Sen-Q , is stocked with a wide choice of electrical goods that one feels tempted to buy. A local businessman told me businesses in Sibu are affected by the influx of these chain stores as they buy in bulk and can sell at lower prices.

I like KFC quite a bit myself, though here it is much less expensive (comparatively). Once visiting Sibu, when I found how people thought it was a “treat” I was buying buckets of it, until finally everyone got sick of eating it. It takes alot of fried chicken to make me sick of it.

I’m glad Sibu is finally getting some decent bookstores. Kuching has had some good ones.

I have a good library of books at the house in Sibu. I will lend you some next time back. Mostly interesting world history, a favorate of mine.

KFC used to be my fav choice but not anymore. The quality has dwindle.

Well, at least BengHui is into Chinese chess right? Books are money well spend commodity.

one thing good n bad abt him is that he loves books. even before sleep he will read until he falls asleep which means i have to switch off the light for him. but hey, i am not complaining. worse would be if he hates books :)

I like KFC too. I like the spicy chicken. But when it comes to ice cream, I think McDonald is the best. I like to buy burger at McD too.
The membership in Popular for a year is more expensive than the one in Kuching. I wonder why? I pay RM10, if I am not wrong. But the 3 years membership will be RM30.

mayb Rm12.00 annually is the new price :( but for three years I save :)

I just went to Popular last week, saw lots of people just sit on the floor and read. They were not only children but adults too.
